We are working on Wayne Barlowe's Thype ! tonite in the webcast

We're super proud to announce our working relationship with legendary science fiction and fantasy painter Wayne Barlowe. We are sculpting one of the signature characters of Wayne's personal work "Thype". Details on how the sculpt will be released (resin, cold-cast porcelain, bronze) are still up in the air, but one thing is for sure: the sculpt is already nearly finished!

Barlowe's Guide to Extraterretrials was a bible to us growing up, even before we became sculptors. We've since followed all his stunning work in Barlowe's Guide to Fantasy, Barlowe's Inferno, and his creature and concept work on both Hellboy movies, Harry Potter movies (Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire), and his Alien Planet on the Discovery Channel.

Wayne has given us the OK to show the piece and pictures will appear in the Gallery Section of the Forum.

Yeah, we're really freakin' excited about this project!

Have you seen the docudrama based on his work too? Anyhoo...
The illusion of muscles under skin always gets me. It's absolutely fantastic and makes one want to reach and touch it.

i second what egerie said, the way you guys convey the sense on movement and lively muscles really brings your sculptures to life, and this collaboration sounds really epic, to inspiring names coming together!
how long til some inferno-themed work? :D :P

always great to see what you guys are up to!

Fantastic work guys, and thank you for sharing it and letting us learn from your efforts. I don't think I would be doing what I do today if it wasn't for the Guide to Extraterrestrials. It made such an impression on little Scott.

Oh wow, that is so great! Barlowe is incredible. His Expedition book is one of my favorites. Such bold design decisions... I wish more of of his wilder stuff could make it into the movies without getting watered down by producers and the like.
