ROUND #153 :: Dr WHO: The FINAL DOCTOR

DESCRIPTION

Dr WHO: The FINAL DOCTOR: A TWO week CHOW

He has been through them all. His lives burnt up through the aeons of time, and The Doctor has reached his final regeneration. There will be no more.

Design the Doctors final form. His last appearance before time claims him, or doesn’t…

With David Tennant stepping down and Matt Smith, the youngest ever actor to play the Dr stepping up to fill his shoes, decide where his regenerations might lead. It could be simple or complex, so go with your imagination. However, try and keep it within the Whoniverse, the world of Dr Who. And remember, this is a TWO WEEK ChOW.

Cool.... I'm first. *Does lame ass happy dance* LOL!

My take on the Final Doctor.... I decided he should be young so he could have a long last life, dangerous adventures permitting. He should have plenty of time to go catin' around, get drunk, make out with chicks... all that stuff he missed because hes constantly being a Hero. He earned it. Oh and he should finally have that red hair he has always wanted! But being almost 1000 years old, he has some elderly personalities traits and that beloved eccentric personality of previous incarnations.

My doctor ponders his existence, his history and his limited future. He is a culmination of young and old brought together to embody an ideal last Dr. Who.

I wanted the final doctor to be older and experienced. I was thinking of a Sean Connery type of man. A wise man who is still a man of adventure.

SYNOPSIS: It is his final regeneration, and the good Doctor is retiring, looking forward to exciting millenia of transdimensional shuffleboard and scholarly research for ASSMAF (Association for Study of Spores, Molds And Fungi), of which he is a charter member and in which he holds the title of "Exalted Shroom."

But the Universe is not so kind as to allow a quiet fade from glory. Due to an intergalactic ponzie scheme begun by a renegade Time Lord not long after the Big Bang (starting with huge investments of chlorophyll by gullible pond scum), The Master now owns all the money in the Universe, and is also retiring -- to a life of sybaritic excess on Gallifrey, having evicted all other planetary tenants.

Homeless, penniless, the Doctor sadly ponders his fate until told by his fellow mycology freak, Dr. E. Spengler, of an ASSMAF grant to study oddly luminescent fairy rings on a backward little mudball called Urth (also sometimes spelled Earth for some silly non-phonetic reason).

Traveling in the now fully-depreciated TARDIS to Brighton, England, where fairy rings are very common, the Doctor encounters an American tourist, one Dixie Kupp, a young and impressionable human female whose mother suffered from both extreme paronomasia and a woeful lack of self-control (plus an inordinate fondness for primitive Urthly entertainments known as "Bond films"). Typically, Dixie responds "Dr. who?" when the Doctor introduces himself. He replies "That's right!" and she immediately agrees to be his companion since he is obviously deeply into deep thoughts and Zenny kinds of stuff like that.

In Brighton, the Doctor also chances across his old friend and fellow time-traveler Mr. A. Dent. They exchange fashion tips over gin and tonics, and the Doctor adopts Dent's now-trademarked galactic hitchhiker grunge look, with a few customizations that Dent agrees he can franchise out in Dent's trendy boutiques, Trillian's (Locations throughout the Orion arm!).

Finally, with Miss D. Kupp in tow, the Doctor begins his study of the glowing fairy rings, only to find indisputable evidence that a yahwc (yet another huge weird creature) has taken up residence in the mist-haunted forest of Ashton! Seems retirement is only a pipe dream for our good Doctor...

I felt giving Dr. Who the fountain of youth for once would send him off to more "extreme" adventures, man! His curiosity is definitely shown in the painting and that only draws you closer to him. It makes you think, what'll he be up to next? It also brings in newer more younger viewers, more women to get all "Twilight-edly" excited as well. Hmm, I see ratings, baby!

The life force of the doctor and time itself have become intrinsically intertwined, could his final death unravel space and time? I tried to capture the Doctor Who of my memories.

the Dead Doctor
Even for a Time Lord, regeneration has it's limits. Ignoring the danger, poised at the end of time itself, the Doctor pushed through one last regeneration.
But some boundaries should never be crossed . . . the failing life energies became corrupt and reversed, transforming him into his final incarnation, forever undead . . . a life eater.

Special thanks to Aly for the topic. I haven't seen Doctor Who since I was a little kid, so I squeezed in seasons 1-3 via Netflix during the course of this project and had a blast all the way!:yayca:

I hope I'm on time. Nicholas Cage as Dr. Who. I think that would be fantastic.
And some studies and costume/pose ideas as wips. Thanks.

Razorleaf: see your inbox
isso09: 3/4ths rule. Also, using an existing actor isn't really designing anything...

After so many regenerations the dear doctor was, and these were his own words: "Tired of this shit!".
So he decided to leave the whole idea of a "body" for what it was and lifted himself to the astral plane
where he projects himself as a giant, pipesmoking, beard flaunting, skarf wearing, afro sporting head.

In this non-material state he has finally found peace.

I'm loving the disorganised Pete Postlethwaite vibe in Lyons' work.

That's got my vote.

It was a tough call between Dwinbot's and RichLyon's piece, but I voted for Richlyon's. He gave an original take on the character, kind of like a post-apocalyptic Dr. Who.
Masque, your piece had a nice overall presentation.

My votes were for:

RichLyons: As timothee said, this one has a post-apocalyptic feel to it, which I really liked. Really like the overall style of the piece too; the painting style, colours and his costume design. I also really like the robotic dog and the helmet he's carrying :)

dwinbotp: A great piece with a lot of detail, which has a 'final' feel to it. I really like the background in this too, it really sets off the doctor with the contrasting dark and lights. I also like how the doctor's posed, and the suggestive forms within the light areas of the background.
