Spartan Camp #81 - 50 gestures + Optional Study of "Clouds"
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 5th of April.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras....and can be in any media, digital or traditional is fine. Both with and without reference is OK. 50 poses is a challenge, but don't stress yourself reaching it! Practice is the main goal.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do a Optional Study of "Clouds", in any media. Black and White or Colour is fine.

:muscle: Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!! :muscle:

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

I decided to do participate this week. All the poses were drawn from an old Pose File reference book. I started with just pen, which forces you to be more assertive with your line choice. The later poses I used a marker to lay in some quick tone.

Asettimi; Wonderful poses! Must be a great ref book too, good poses. Those first sketches seem to really work as a warm-up. The rest are really great, I thought those were digital but you seem to have used a marker. Any specifics or just ordinary markers? The poses with construction lines still seem to be strongest. Very inspirational! thanks for joining.

Mostly from ref. Tried the cloud optional several times but it didn't quite work out. Trying again tomorrow.

Really interesting poses and style, Asettimi. Hope you'll find time to participate another time as well!

Anthis: I could swear I've drawn the exact same pose as your very first one there. :D Yeah, I think I recognise that gun and those pants. Must have been one of the ones I did last week. Anyhow, great work as usual. Just one thing I've noticed; the arms tend to look a bit too thin at times. Maybe that's just me, though, because I tend to draw things a bit too thick in general.

I'm hoping to get something done for the next Spartan Camp again. I actually took some screencaps of the Iron Man movie, so I'll see if I can think up something with them. Of course they'll all have their clothes on, but I managed to capture some walk cycles, so doing those might be interesting, seeing as I wish to learn some animation someday. And the robotic suits! Oh, the robotic suits! I already did a few drawings and enjoyed it tremendously. I just wish I didn't have exams this week, so I could continue drawing right now.

Thanks Anthis and Great Distance!

It was a really fun challenge, I'm gonna try and do it this week as well, might choose different ref though, maybe some hands studies to.

Anthis, you have some great poses as well, I like how they are planted really good to the groundplane, and have great weight and balance to them. Where did you get your ref from?

As for the markers, I used a Copic Multiliner SP 0.5 for the line work, and prismacolor marker for the tones. French Gray 20%, and Wheat.
I however really like the Copic sketch marker, very good flow on the brush tip side. Bummer though the cost is more than 2 times the price of just 1 prismacolor marker.
