I am planning on getting an I touch. ANd I looked up that Colors program that what's his name is painting with, and it says it requires a Iphone 2.1 software update. SO, I ask, what is the difference between an Iphone and an Itouch. and if anyone knows, can that app be used on a regular I Touch?

The app can indeed be used on an iTouch. The only real differences between the two devices are that the iPhone has a microphone and a camera. Other then that, the hardware is almost exactly the same. If there is an iPhone app that doesn't require either of these, you can put it on an iPod Touch.
I have an iPod Touch and I love it. Colors works just fine with it.

Thanks man. Appreciate it. Just wanted to make sure before I went to go spend my hard earned moolah!

I own the new Itouch and absolutely love it, you can actually buy mics for it now and make phone calls as long as you are in wifi through skype.

I have the touch and it's seriously an amazing product.
If you consider the iPhone but do not need to access the internet everywhere, you have to think that the device is locked in a 2 year contract which will end up costing you $1656 for the cheapest data+phone plan + $199 for the phone + $36 for activation so for a total of over $1900 for 2 years.
Always having the internet anywhere you go is amazing for some but if you have it at home and at work or in school, and basically everywhere you go (friend's, parent's place, coffee shops) then there is no need to have the iPhone.
The apps are the same unless you need a camera and GPS can be replaced by wifi triangulation.
The games are so much fun too. They are just addictive enough to want to play them but not enough like World of Warcraft and waste 10 hours a day you could have spent drawing. They are good for wasting loose time like post office line up (I know, very typical but those lines are long) and even better for public transportation.
hope this help =)
