After having completed the plans months ago, I finally had a free weekend to build my easel.

A few details
base is about 24x30
has a canvas span of about 100", although i dont think I would put a 100" canvas on it even if I had the ceiling height.
the shelf has a groove on the back which will eventually accept accessory trays if i ever get a chance to build them
more forward and backward tilt than i could ever know what to do with
used a box of 3/4x2 1/4" oak flooring
total cost ended up around $150
approx 10hr build time

Ha-HAH! Beautiful! I was wondering how long it would take someone to realize that tongue and groove flooring was perfect for an easel slide back...

This is something to be proud of. Well done...:yayca: :yayca: :yayca:

Thanks

Although the build saved me over $300, factoring in the time it took to build and trouble shoot, I now understand the pricing on easels and do not plan to build any more anytime soon.

Wow, that is amazing! It looks better than most easels you can buy in the shops! I hope you are very proud of it :)

Beautiful work! Do you have an idea for the first painting that is going to break it in?

I am currently working on 2 paintings, a self portrait and a Girl with a Pearl Earring copy. However, for the self portrait, I am using my hand made table top easel to hold the board and am using the new easel to hold the mirror.

Nice!
I'd love to see some more shots, especially close-ups.

Damn nice work! Did you design it from scratch or base it on existing easels? I've seen designs similar, but I wouldn't be able to tell how much you changed.

That actually reminds me that my dad bought me a new easel a couple years ago. I didn't have the heart to tell him I had one I liked already, so it's been sitting in my closet still boxed up years later. I think I should sell it...
