Spartan Camp #80 - 50 gestures + Optional Study of "Fashion"
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 29th of March.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras....and can be in any media, digital or traditional is fine. Both with and without reference is OK. 50 poses is a challenge, but don't stress yourself reaching it! Practice is the main goal.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do a Optional Study of "Fashion", in any media. Black and White or Colour is fine.

:muscle: Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!! :muscle:

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

I don't get it. What do you mean "fashion"?

I suppose it's something related to fashion, whatever you like.
clothes, jewelry... (I'll include human parts, of course. humans are my favourite subjects and help communicate it's 'fashion', not mere human made objects)

Well, here's a lot of different stuff.

Hamsters from reference. For practise I decided to draw them bigger than the reference pictures, because that continues to be one of those things that are difficult to me. Actually I picked the hamsters just because I figured it would be easy to get the proportions right with those.

Some poses from imagination.

The last drawings are from photo reference again.

Practised on drawing bigger than the photos are again. I'm not sure what that's supposed to accomplish. I guess it's just too easy to draw everything the same size as you see it.

Here I kept the photos and drawings the same size as I was drawing. Also, forgot to resize this picture. Sorry for that.

Well, this time I decided to draw smaller than the reference photos are, because I seem to have some sort of strange obsession with this.

A study on fashion coming up later, maybe.

Great Distance; Great going! Keep practising both from the head and ref and compare them! You can see that in the poses without ref, your heads are often too big, and your torsos and pelvises are losing shape and form. You took some nice and experimental poses though. Great work on the ones from ref. Also, love the hamsters, especially the ones in greyscale! Nice optional, strong lines and a nice brush actually. Overall - wonderful job, keep challenging yourself! I recognize the 'small drawing' problem, I'm suffering from exactly the same.

Pen drawings from posemaniacs.com, followed by pencils from imagination. Fashion random reference from internet.

Did another optional but it turned out to be more of a long study.

Thanks for the crits! I tired to study some anatomy some time ago, but it got boring after a while, so I never got that great on it. I don't know, maybe this stuff will end up helping a bit with that. I don't expect to see a huge improvement soon, though. Drawing from reference has always been my bravoure. Drawing from imagination, well, that's just a hell of a lot of work. But I'll keep trying.

It's great that you keep getting all 50 gestures done week after week. Just how do you manage do that?

No problem. I wouldn't know the 'right' way draw to be honest. I'm attending any art class myself. From what I've read and seen on these forums though, it comes from both studies from reference and from the mind. And simply drawing a lot in general. I can imagine it's different for everyone. I hope it will help you!
As for me- I've been doing this for quite a while now, and for a long time I really needed it to keep up some pressure. I've gotten a lot faster, but I need to practice quality ;s
