Kinda pointless I guess because it just puts the dirt behind itself.....it's like a glorified tiller, lol, ah well.

This machine is used for clearing and maintaining dirt roads. It has the large scoop arm for pushing the road clean and level, along with two smaller graplers which can dig out rocks or logs. A storage compartment holds rock samples, and 360 degree motion/terrain sensor mounted on top aids the AI.
Mechs are a very very weak area for me, but I tried!

It digs holes. Is there a sense of movement in it? What do you think?

Wasn´t in the mood to do painting like sketch.

Awalloffire: like the design, but the background is confusing.
It kind of wrecks the nice perspective you got going.
The right side needs to be pushed back, and the foreground needs to be less fuzzy.
The robot itself looks fine.
Hunger Artist: Sorry, I just can´t make any sense of it. Everything is just
floating around.
Snowball: The wheel could be a lot bigger. Nice idea.
NoUseFrAName: Aside from the designflaw nice sketch.
Velo: Dunno much about mechanics either.
It looks fine, I'm not sure how the treads would work though.
Like the practical clunky look of the design.

Hi , Im new around here , and im just getting back into drawing on a daily basis. hopefully my shedule will allow me to keep up with the daily assignments.

Paper slayer, Oh the treads... I guess it does need some explaination, I tried to devise wheels which made sense for the machine. Since this machine is made to go into areas which have been deforested but not cleared of junk, the treads have to be able to go over rocks and logs. So my idea was a bunch of sliding plates with a roller belt. The belt propels forward movement and runs around the plates, it's made of durable material which has some stretch and is more flexible than a car tire (maybe woven/linked heavy rubber)... The plates can move up and down so that the balance of the machine is basically unchanged and the lever can remain level. The belt is flexible enough to change with the plates. The wheel is the sketch is bulging upward the way it would when rolling over a rock.

Seeing all those giant robots so perfectly drawn, I tried to design something completely different.

At first I thought of moving Earth (our planet) in stead off earth (sand). Imagine a real axis from North- to Southpole. An immense grounded cilinder around this axis (SP-side). And machinery (with weels!) to rotate this cilinder (and Earth) around the axis. But this was to complex for me to draw. WHO DARES? Besides ... would it be a robot?

In stead a 20 min quicky at the other end of dimensions: an AntBot, just capable to move one grain of earth a time. So tiny that you must use a magnifying-glass to see this creature at work.

I had so many cheasy and cornballish ideas for this one, (Including a robot that ate dirt and later pooped it out in nice little bundles, kind of like hay bailers), but in the end I opted for a quick somewhat practical idea.

Ahhhh... sigh... A quick monochrome scribble from me today, pretty tired.

Well, to be honest Steve doesn't move much. He is only a prototype and as a prototype he is a bit lethargic. I told him he wouldn't get any WD-40 if he wouldn't chew up the earth, but does he listen? Noooo....

Idiot Apathy - I think your "steve" will suffer from apathy too, with a track on each side. The only moves he can make are rotations around his own axis.

Retrosolid - Very nice !! Where are the weels? Roller skates out of sight?

phantomhead - This 's a sweet little thing. So neat, it 'll not accept to get mud at his shovel.

Avalos - Beautifull lights and shadows. Inspired by Rembrandt?

No use of reference for these...
There're plenty of times when I would benefit from referencing photographs or other artists' paintings, and I hope to start doing that soon.

The only reference I can remember using for the DSG is the tomato I used to make my vegetable guy :P .
