This was great fun. Justin and I have been friends a long time, but this was a great opportunity for us both to do a subject we love but rarely get to paint. PIRATES!!

So enough for warm fuzzies- This was a battle of epic proportions between two peers who are out for blood!! The gloves came off and now two bloodied and tired combatants stand before you- eagerly awaiting your decision of who lives and who dies!! without further exposition... let the Thunderdome begin!!!

Our subject was "Blood Pirate".

enjoy

hi all,

here's my final images for my challenge with anjy. The challenge is to do designs of Cacus and Cerberus from Dante's "Inferno". This was different for me as I'm not that used to painting traditionally or digitally, but it was a great learning experience. I can't wait till the next Thunderdome...

Hey, ya'll, thanks for looking! Here's our finished pieces. Our contest was to make the ultimate badass knight. Although it could have fantasy elements, no sci-fi stuff was allowed, and color was optional.
We both ended up making a good character concept page, along with the finished pieces, so we'll show you a bit of it all, just to show you the process.

First off, here's Kyle Cross's (www.kylecross.com) knight:
http://www.digitalthree.com/knights/knight4web.jpg Finished piece.

Here's Jason Martin's (www.conceptcreature.com) knight:

http://www.digitalthree.com/knights/jknight.jpg Finished Character

http://www.digitalthree.com/knights/jKnights2.jpg Character Sheet

We actually worked together on the last Thunderdome, so we felt it was time to have some good-natured rivalry for once on this Thunderdome. Hope you enjoy our ideas, and thanks again for having these competitions, guys! They're a lot of fun!

BMW Heavy Industries - Compact Trooper Carrier

Ok.These are the finished works.
Vehicle is a BMW...the future generation of the corporation. After the wars, they decided to manufacture for the military. So here it is. As the topic, it's a landing ship but swift and fast. Can carry 4 troopers and has got two heavy gathling guns.
The environment in the cinematic piece is a planet which has a living surface. Lots of worms covers all the planet. But as the subject again, there's a rock on the surface that humans want. "We always want!" :) So it's a landing scene, troopers landing, BMW is defencing. Here you go...

The topic was "fantasy/scifi + wild west = deadlands. and this thunderdome challenge. one original character concept, full color, environment optional"

a quick story about my dude...

he is a cowboy obviously, living in the hot desert of a world that has been nuked a lot. The nuking has caused deformations of many animals, so he took advantage of a very large jackalope (rabbit with deer antlers)that he found since they are way faster than horses. other cowboys may laugh at first, but they stop laughing when he points his left arm at them. His left arm is actually replaced by a chainsaw with a double barrel shotgun built right into it. The left deer antler was cut off so that he can use his gun arm easier while riding. Both my guy and the jackalope have many body parts replaced by machinery due to many battle wounds. He is a total badass that kills people.

great stuff so far btw...

Mods/judges: Me and my girlfriend had a baby just a few days ago so it looks like i will not be able to color the sequential and finish the main picture:/ Dunno if i will be disqualified or not. It's really up to you. I've started to color the sequential(15 panels done) + paint the main picture(or cover), but since i will be staying home for about 2 weeks now with the baby i will not be able to color it all.

This was tons of fun anyway. I really enjoyed it:)

Targete is struggling with time, so he will be posting when he's good and ready. I'm looking forward to being crushed like a bug by your image, man, you do some amazing work.
I'm posting two attempts I'm not totally happy with. They're ok, but I didn't follow the rules too closely. Instead of a baddass alien hunter that could kick Gigers alien and Predators ass, I ended up with a couple lumbering oafs that are strong and tough skinned, but ...oafish.
Number one just pounds, crushes and chomps (and he's huge...like 14 feet tall). It's not quite done, but what the hell?
Number two has a secret weapon of being able to gak up a cloud of flying firey killer loogies that hunt you down and incinerate you.
Anyway...much fun to do. Post targete post!

Challenge: Fantasy meets Cyberpunk

welp, heres my final image, due to me procrastinating, i didnt get a cool background done in time..hehe

i DID learn alot tho, this being my first painting without the linework to contain my colors, and the next painting i do will go alot smoother.

i hope you finish yours bryan! if not in time for the deadline, at least finish it soz i can see!

-------------------------------------------------
Little description of the character:
Hes an elven werewolf, trained as a bounty hunter. They are in high demand for their superior tracking and hunting skills.
At home in the wild, or in massive cities of steel and concrete, they can be virtually invisible in any terrain if they so wish.
Besides having amazing natural agility, speed and strength, many hunters opt to undergo extensive cybernetic implant procedures. Also, due to their size changing nature, all of the armor a hunter wears is capable of morphing along with its owner, making them very formidable opponents. On the same note, they all must trval barefoot, as morphing makes footware useless, cybernetic implants provide advaced traction and protection for the feet. Most choose to
use "archaic" weapons, relishing the challenge of the hunt.

silvir VS. st_sleek

Topic:
A Character (male or female, dosn't matter)
Lives in the woods, by him/herself.
Creates things(mechs, zombies, creatures, whatever)
Unleashes his army of creations to rule the woods.

Medium:
Traditional (pencils, paints, pens, ect.)

silvir:

http://www.silvir.com/tdome7finished.gif

History:
Ragon, a dwarf, was exiled from his clan early in life for two reasons. First being his lack of pupils in his eye, meaning he was gifted, but thought to be of "bad luck" to the tribe. Secondly he had a desire to help the Gnomes of the land, which was clearly against what the clan believed in. So he was exiled into the woods near the great mountain range which sheltered many Trolls and Ogres. The woods were the home of many Gnomes. Ragon offered to help the Gnomes fight back the Trolls and Ogres. One should realize that the Trolls and Ogres constantly devoured the gnomes. They readily agreed. Ragon forged strong armor (of which the Gnomes found materials deep within the planet) and great weapons to combat the Trolls and Ogres. They fought and won this war. Ragon was elected leader of Gnomes.

'Twas fun, even if it looks worse than all of the other entries. ;)

Ours was a cartoony fairy tale gone wrong.

mine is a mix: Little Red Riding Hood actually killed the bad wolf, and sexually abused the hunter (who pussed out on her rescue). Red later ran into The Little Old Lady who lived in The Shoe, and struck the deal of a lifetime.
Old Lady now lives in Barbados sipping on cocktails, while Red became Madame Hood, and now runs the best house in the red light district.

TARGETE
February 10th, 2004, 11:00 PM
The rules of this challenge basically was to create a bad ass alien hunter/warrior type creature that was bipedal that could beat the crap out of the predator and alien concepts.

This is my final version I decided to stick with just pencil and paper since I enjoy that the most.

A little info on my boy here:
His name is Kulac-deaag.
About 7.5 feet tall 400 lbs, Incredibly powerful arms and legs, very fast for a creature this size.
Weapons include a plasma like cross bow weapon which can also shoot an unbreakable spool of wire to ensnare an adversary. He has also a power guanlet that is attached to his nerves in his arm. He also has a number of retractable blade weapons he carries.

History:

He originates from a forgotten world torn by civil war and corruption. After fleeing his planet he lived as a nomad traveling the diffrent systems taking on odds and ends, until he found himself befriended by a band of assasins who were more of a cult obsessed with the way of the warrior hunters of their ancestors. He eventually became their leader but was betrayed by a jealous warrior and was nearly killed by an ambush set up by his fellow warriors. Left for dead he recovered and now travels the unknown in search of his revenge.

Here are my final submissions. This all came together today, last minute, in my demo in the 11th hour in class tonight...damn...this was fun. I wish I could do more with the final image, but hey, I had to meet the deadline..>

Thanks again,

Ronhttp://www.rev-art.com/lemenimages/finish%20thunderdomeimaagesm.jpg

So here is the story...This race, these races, are polythiests, so symbology, naley, natural symbols of religious icons or iconic strength reign in their culture. All the details in their lives revolve around symbols. Thus, the highly stylized looking renditions of animal ships...the stingers, after the bee, are an electro static technology, throwing its discharge(waste) out four vents designed to form the discharge into menacing looking wings. These wings are merely illusion.

The caterpillar is a troop transport, each segment carries 5 troopers within the belly, while the cover man flys above in the segment. The lead ship is the command ship for each division.

The class of people that fly the beez are creating weapons in the factory covering a thermal vent. This is hidden on a wind swept planet in the far corner of their particualr solar system. This race harnesses energy from thermal vents, and then uses it to procude electro static technology. The caterpillar army is moving in to sabotage the factory.. This part of the image i really didnt get a chance to develop... but was not part of the original story anyway, so whatever...I wish I coulda finished the entire image though. It was fun, thanks for the battle royale...

Somethin ain't right about Doc Blake. Always a-grinnin from ear ta ear, wider'n most folks can, even if they try. If that don't beat all, Doc's pale as death an' has eyes like a rotten corpse. He ain't muchuva gunslinger, but wherever he goes, all sortsa spooks and devils seemta follow. Any man'll tell ya, Doc's no man of god, an' some even say he ain't of this earth. Cross paths with Doc Blake an' you'll quickly find that his metal leg ain't the only unnatual thing about him.

hi, apologies for being late. i had a bit of trouble getting to a computer with internet access yesterday.

this is a first stab at coloring with a computer and it was pretty damn rough. many thanks to Devilbunny and Spider Monkey for not lashing out at my retardicity on coloring in photoshop and showing me a few of their secret tricks. (i totally gave up on the background- i'll try it again later.)

here's Star, my thunderdome 7 dude:

Star is an active participant in the Ginder Fighting Circuit venued in all of the fortress towns surrounding the Sony Desert. he's been around a little while and has had more than a few replacement parts added as limbs are lost in serious matches.

well, i had fun! cucaracha is finishing up his, but his school schedule is getting kinda hectic, as he is currently graduating!

Im no good with PS, so i didn't add in the effects i wanted (billowing smoke and a flame thrower) but i still think it turned out good. Pencil/inking and markering together was around 24 hours. pencil of choice was a .5mm mechanical "PhD" pencil. Inks of choice were 08, 02, 01, and 005. prisma markers included copper, black, cool grey 90/80/60/20 and 10, and crimson.
