Hi All,
A friend of mine recently started using Paint for the first time (v10) and he asked me the following question. I've encountered this problem very rarely only when I'm zoomed in a certain amount and it promptly disappears if I zoom out a little or in a little. He seems to be having it all the time. Can anyone suggest a solution?
Here's his question to me;

The previous version of Ps (CS2) was pretty choppy looking, but when I upgraded to CS4 it smoothed out and the resolution seemingly improved. That's why I'm thinking it's an application deal as opposed to a monitor deal..
I'm using a ModBook at 1280 x 800 which is the max available.
The chopiness is pretty much always there. It's most noticeable with thin, hard edged brushes and when you're not zoomed way in. When you zoom way in onto the line it appears how it should, as a line- but if you zoom back out, to see the whole image, it can start to look like a series of dots again. Makes it hard to work with those tools. I pretty much only work at 300 dpi.
On the screen I work on, Painter is pretty pixelated- especially with thin hard brushes like the Scratchboard Tool. Thin lines appear broken, often times like a line of dots, but when you zoom in it shows as a thin clean line. Do you know how to get around this? Is there a setting in Preferences that can be changed?<
