**Updated down below in post#7 based on feedback**
Hi all,
This was gonna be my first foray into CHOW but I didn't manage to find the time to finish it on time:( Oh well, I did get it done and am fairly happy with it. I wanted to try a more simplistic design to the clothing and a throw in a spear/polearm type lightsabre.
Any critiques are more than welcomed, thanks!

A lot of goodness here. I really like your monotone palette and strong, but sensitive shapes.
I think I am slightly bothered by that right hand, which seems to float in the air unattached. I think a bit more explanation is required to make me believe it.
Is this a computer illo, or is this done in reality? Or both? Looks like a scanned pencil drawing with photoshop overtop.
Good luck

very nice piece Dreln. I really like the aged, worn look of it as well. Now, how 'bout adding some more atmosphere( sun in bg, clouds, fog between buildings, maybe tiny flying ships etc.) to really help separate your background, middleground, and fg. I think that would really enhance this piece:)

Yap very well done. Love the colors and the look and feel of it but the clothing could use some textures. They look to plain to me.

There is something very potent about this and its so refreshing to see the genre handled this way. Intensity acheived by care and refinement of the shapes as opposed to mindless polishing.
I agree with Kev's crit of the hand, but it is a lovely piece to look at. The restraint and impeccable sensibility in handling the limited colour means that the slight increase in the intensity of the face is exhilarating.

I love the palette and the way you handled texture. I just wish the legs and feet weren't hacked off like that - looks like you just didn't want to deal with them, and I understand that, but so much precision went into the rest, it sells the whole piece short. Still, very nice.

Thank you so much for the comments guys! I really appreciate it and to show that I truly did I've made some edits to the piece based on your comments.
kev ferrara - Yeah I darkened the forearm under the cloak a tad too much but I've brightened it up a bit. Yeps it is a pencil drawing with Photoshop. The sketch is here (http://www.dorkwerks.com/images/sketches/2009/chow-female-sith.jpg)
tarrzan - Thanks for the advice man, I went ahead and made some of the suggestions you made, really helped the piece me thinks.
tgfx - Yeah I left them like that to keep the focus on the shapes more, and I figured all the noise and scratchyness would suffice
Chris Bennett - Thanks for the warm comments!
JessiBean - Thanks JessiBean, the lady now has feet thanks to you. Thanks for pointing out how the piece was being limited by the missing feet as I wasn't really seeing that till I looked at it again. Drawing feet doesn't bother me though, that's just where the edge of the paper ended up:)
Thanks again for all your comments guys.

I think that the background and her clothes are to similar in color which flattens the image out a bit. Apart from that it’s a really nice picture. I like to work with a combination of pencil and digital painting myself. It creates some interesting effects.

Reminds me somehow of Brom's artwork style yet not. Has some art nouveau-ish sense in it...In anyway it's a good piece.
