But first, we need some requirements.

1.) Medium - Pencil renderings only, or PS/Painter?

2.) Style - Character concept or rendering with a backgroudn and whatnot?

3.) Any specs? Is this the zombie of a cyborg? Is it a zombie brought back to life with a mechanical device? Any guidelines whatsoever?

Damn! Sounds bitchin! I'm personally thinking of doing multiple pieces, following the development of my "zombie device," but that could changem depending on how much time I find between now and February.

after reading through the other challenge posts, i think we need to submit more than just one piece so how about this::

ZOMBIES of the FUTURE

Subject: Character design: Zombie of the future -- if we define zombies as we know them to be:

Dead humans resurrected via arcane arts to serve the resurrector-- we can then translate this into a futuristic setting.

Style: Open choice

Media: Traditional media for all except masterpiece (explained below)

Rules:

*Character may be any gender, age, size.
*All pieces must show that the character is both a zombie AND resides in the future
* 3 pieces:
---1: Character design (traditional media) showing a static front view of the character in a neutral pose.
---2: A double - page traditional media spread showing NEAT sketches of poses, closeups etc -- these are sketches of ideas and details for the character but they must be neat and well presented.
---3: A masterpiece -- a colour render (digital or traditional) of the character (this does not necissarily have to show the character in normal behaviour -- it is simply a finished piece with the character as the subject)

I had someone offer to send me some ref pics of graves, cemetaries, and what she likes to term "corpse worms"! I dont want an unfair advantage, so if you think we should use em ill get em posted in this thread. otherwise i wont use em at all.

Well, why not make a "reference pool?" Post links to images you think would help. I can't provide many photo refs, but I can hook you up with some great zombie pics by other artists. I have some prelim sketches I did during vlass today, which I'll try to get up. As for my personal work, I dont have a website, so just try searching for my name on conceptart.

wazaaa. just got my school results back. UAI of 93.4! so much better than i expected! thats why ive been so dormant. Anyway heres a few prelim sketches n ideas which turned out weirdly anime hehe.

Pardon the overall crappyness. My Zombie will be the Alpha zombie, the one that started it all. The plaguebearer. The bringer of Doom. It will spread the plague that will envelop the world, via those big tubes on its back, and possibly some pores.

As for some interesting submissions:

1 Colour rendered scene including the four horsemen
1 Weapon design for a horseman
1 storyboard (10+ frames) including dialogue.

Horsemen can be any time, any place, but must retain their traditional appearance.

I dont know anything about em yet so correct me if any of this is wrong (ie the headless thing)

*Full colour rendered 'master' piece.
*Concept design for a weapon (or other significant item such as a staff) for one of the horsemen
*A well presented collection of various concept sketches and studies.

How does that sound? any other ideas?
At the moment im just working on the masterpice (and sorta on the wep design) so as long as we dont change taht i should be right.

my wacom is fubared, completely stuffed. so i wont be able to do the full colour render since i have nowhere near enough traditional colour materials, sorry. Ittll be b+w traditional, as will all my others. since this is a fault on my side, feel free to do b+w, colour, digital or w/e, your choice
