You got it!

Let's hold off on WIPs too. It's more suspensful that way. It would also be cool if Images of each Creature/character could be grouped to display the design process for the respective subjects on completion.

...I've got nothing to lose and everything to prove. Let's get it on! :evilbat:

grouped?

you mean a single image with all the designs, correct?

N D Hill

Actually, I meant multiple images per character. Basically, I think it'd be cool to present whatever preliminary sketches we may have used to build up to the final design as sort of a presentation for each character. You know. "Making-of" documentary style. Let me know what you think. I'm open to ideas and we have plenty of time to iron out the details.

as for further rules of conduct, click here. (http://renaissance.dm.net/compendium/26.html) :D

for the last time exo, i'm not wearing fluffly pants.

and yeah ok. i generally don't do multipul images though, i tend to work on a single image until i get it right, so i'll see what i can do though.

It's all good. I tend to do that too when I work digitally. As long as the designs are clear and consistant. We have the '90% design focus' rule. Everything should work out just fine.

Who am I kidding? I don't have the will power not to post a WIP or to not want to see one of yours.

Nice mouth. I like the holes in his cheeks. they work well with his deformed mouth. It'd be cool to see teeth jutting through.

I wrote a brief setting that all of my mutants will be designed for:

The planet Irth had seen it’s inhabitants murder each other for countless millennium until the violence had escalated to a near apocalypse. The surface was scorched and cleansed as 99.9999998 percent of all life had been incinerated and nearly every artificial structure had been leveled. The few who survived had no hope of resurrecting their past and were forced to forge a new path and adapt. Their traditions, methods and even their physiology were all discarded as their fragile dream of new life was ascending from the ashes of the deceased. For three thousand years, the new mutated ecology and civilizations of Irth slowly established itself. These mutant forms of life and society were incredibly adaptive, calculating and resilient, a polar opposite from murderers who had destroyed nearly everything. They only inherited one memory from these murderers, indiscriminate killing leads to self damnation.
The new societies were by no means perfect or without their own conflicts but all agreed to one fundamental commandment; “any attempt to resurrect ways of the past is equivalent forfeit of all life”. Why endure a second self-destructive and torturous existence? Death was preferable. It was a suicide pact who all were honor-bound to. These established conventions lead to a greatly simplified and elegant form of war where close quarters combat between willing combatants was not only considered honorable but more efficient, fit for the new warriors. Time passed and empires and republics rose and fell while maintaining these standards and traditions...
...There were those who did not appreciate life in it’s new form, however. A new faction rose from the depths of a great crater and erected a great city and and at the center, a citadel devoted to the prospect of ultimate genetic purity was built. The new faction, the “pioneers” prepared to use whatever means necessary to monopolize the gene pool. They engineered their own flesh through selective breeding, gene manipulation and self mutilation. They also worshiped being known only as the bishop who may or may not really exist. Little is known internally about their culture or herritage in relation to the ‘honor bound’ peoples; only that they believe that killing and self sacrifice is a small price to pay for the future they desire.

This creature represents the backbone of the pioneer cavalry. It's a tortured mutated creature whose cruelty is only surpassed by it's rider, who steers it with hooks imbedded into it's flesh.

http://ndhill.astahost.com/img/mutant1.jpg

The mastermind of the pioneer movement, Bishop, is not a sentient creature but a biological force which threatens to infest and infect all life with his seed. He will consume the world untill all things are made into his likeness.

The creature known as Gabriel has plagued the Irth for nearly two thousand years. Despite many attempts to kill him (some of which seemingly succeeded) he always returns to claim the spoils of battlefeilds. He does not takes sides. He's an merely an opportunistic predator despite his humanoid appearance.

One of the last of the humanoids. Samson reeks havok with this abnormal strength and his slight understanding of past human knowledge. Towering over 8 feet tall and weighing roughly at 445lb and able to lift near 1000lb.

The apocalypse has taken it's toll on all beings of this planet, which samson hunts for game and for food. Often getting himself in to more trouble than he intends, yet... this fascinating man....beast has lasted many years after the apocalypse and intends to keep it that way.

Fear Samson.

Jack Sapper was holy man who studied scriptures for most of his life. After finding a hidden message in the bible telling when the apocalypse was coming and how it could be stopped.

Sapper took this information and single handled stopped the apocalypse, though scarificing his own body to asorb the holy flames which was ment to consume the world.

Kneel before Jack Sapper.

Unterbrecher is a monster of a man. The apocalypse didn't bring brimstone and hellish demons. It caused the sinners to become their sins. Gluttony took over whatever was left of this man, and now he forever walks the earth mindlessly consuming the earth crushing & consuming all in his path.

Run from the Unterbrecher.

Nice! I like the large tumor-like mounds on his back and shoulder. I can almost imagine other variations and arrangements of this creature. Nice work.

My next will be here soon. I just got back from my trip to Illinoise and I'm getting over the flew but only means more time to draw!

I'm on number three too. I pretty much know what I'm doing for all of them, it's just the long task of painting that's ahead of me.

Awesome stuff davi! Jack Sapper's got a great etherial quality to him, as if he's just a jusk of a husk of a person that acts as a power conduit. Unterbrecher's pretty cool too. You can almost hear that animal sqealing and him giving it a final shake, snapping it's neck.

Great job!

Strong pieces from the both of you.

Davi- I think you need to improve the leg anatomy in the sheep (especially the hind legs) in Unterbrecher. They look broken, and even if they are, they don't look right. I think that's one of your weaknesses, and I want to help you, so if you rework anything, do that.

Exo- I love the raw look of your pieces. This is just my opinion, but put next to Davi's they do not look as "finished". If you do anything else, I would suggest adding some sort of environment, or at leats a cast shadow in there (especially on the last two), and maybe clean up or define some areas some more.

Hope that helps-

benzo, yeah someone actually pointed that out to me a few days ago, but my effort and enthusiasm for the piece ran dry.... i really don't know why we agreed on doing multiple paintings :(

thanks though, i'll spend sometime looking at sheep legs some time so i don't muck it up again.

i just noticed something funny all of our figures are facing to the left of the images...

Thanks Benzo. Yeah, environments and compositions are things I usually don't consider on design pieces, mostly because I like to do everything I can to bring the focus to the design. Usually my backgrounds simply serves a purpose of easing the eye into design as a plain white or different colored background couldn't. To tell the truth, if i were to do an illustrative piece, I wouldn't even consider that an excuse to clash colors. I should've had some sort of ground plain though, for something so simple, they actually help a great deal in putting a subject into context.

Davi, looks like I'll be here afterall. If the flu or car problems don't do it, leave it to Maine weather to keep you grounded.
