My name's Mike, and I'm looking for an artist to do a few (2 or 3) illustrations on spec for a children's book.

I recently sold a humorous non-fiction book to Kensington Books, so this "ain't my first rodeo," but my agent doesn't handle children's books, so I'm having to start over from scratch as far as finding representation for it. I have a chance to pitch it to an agent in person this May, and think it would go better if I have some illustrations to present with the text.

As I said, this is on spec. I can't afford to pay you anything, and if the book doesn't sell, we're both out some time and resources. I'm willing to send you the script if you're interested and I think your style would be a good match for it. The story is about a young boy (5 or 6) named Grant Galapagos and the adventures he has using his imagination and random things found around the house.

I look forward to hearng from you,

Mike
