After my first thread here, I decided I wouldn't come back until I had finished my sketchbook while getting better along the way. Well, it took about 6 months or so to do it, but it's pretty much filled. Mostly with crap. However, I've learned a lot along the way, and I really think I'm working to a cool, somewhat unique style that takes bits and pieces from all my favourite artists.
Oh, and for some reason, most of these pictures were stretched, because my scanner is really freaking retarded. Take that into note when you see some really ugly bits(#6 is the worst victem... it looks a lot better in real life). I'm fixing it right now, and I'll do my best to get it as true to the original picture as possible, but know that I'm prone to error!
So, I've picked out the few good drawings that can be considered to be some level of 'finished,' and am finally posting them. These picks will also be part of my portfolio that I'm submitting to my future (hopefully and probably) university (University of Lethbridge). I'll probably pack in about 10 drawings with the portfolio, so this knocks six off that list.
They'll be posted in chronological order, which really shows how I got better over time!
Well, first, our favourite psychotic looking robot... or my favourite. Sadly, I won't ever be able to change or improve this picture, as its faded away into nothing. The book said it was non-acidic, but regardless, this digital copy is all that remains, save for an incredibly faded mess.

Number 2. Although it was started after number 3, it was finished before it. It doesn't focus as much on shadows (at all), as compared to my other drawings, but it's the beginning of the whole wavy line thing that was inspired by my love for Yoshitaka Amano's artstyle.

Number 3 is basicly an action pose of a character that I designed earlier for a 3D model. The model isn't complete, because I love to procrastinate, but this drawing more then makes up for it, in my opinion. I think it marks the beginning of a big skill jump for me. Worth note is that I finally nailed proportions! WOOHOO! ...I think... GO GO BASIC FUNDAMENTALS!

Number 4 is a chain smoking, morphine addicted gunslinger with lung cancer. And I love it like that. He and the characters in picture two will be featured in a flash I'm doing for my animation class(which will also be part of the same portfolio). He's pretty much going to be the main good guy, but the outlook doesn't look too good for him. Not much to say about him, other then that he's one of my favourite drawings of one of my most beloved creations.

Number 5 is a quick sketch. I got the urge to draw a tribal chick, so I drew a tribal chick. I got the urge to make her possessed by a giant evil sword, so I drew her with a giant evil sword to her right. I'm not a fan of drawing overly sexed female characters, and so this was a bit of a fine line for me. However, I figure that being all tribal like, it works.

Finally, the best picture in my entire sketchbook, and the final. Sadly, it along with picture 4, are beginning to fade already, even though this picture was completed just today. Anyone know of a way to preserve these pictures? This one especially looks a lot better in real life, and I'd really like to keep them in tact.
Anyway, the picture is called Sound and Vision, because I like David Bowie. The idea was to create a modern, stylish look, while still looking sensable and attractive. I think I pulled it off well. The modern bit is obviously portrayed by the headphones(and MP3 player attached to the right side of her belt, which you can just barely see), and the camera she's holding. The hands are iffy for me, because I couldn't really find a good picture of a woman holding a camera at that angle. So instead, I ended up using my own hands as the model. My fingers are skinny enough and all, but they're really bony as well, so I kind of had a hard time getting them to look right(because my fingers just don't look right on a girl. They're really claw like... not too attractive if you ask me). The idea of her clothing is that it's supposed to be attractive, without being purposely seductive. The choker helps her stick out a bit, I think, and it just looks good.
In case you're wondering, her shirt's supposed to read 'SndVis,' for 'Sound and Vision,' and the SV on her headphones means the same thing.
