New to this forum!

Howdy, someone told me about this forum and how there were some really brilliant drawings coming out of here, and after seeing some of the work here I have to agree. I'm currently working on this Faery type figure and wanted to get some feedback from some actual artists instead of joe-shmoes..

As of completing my registration I found out that someone else had used the nick "Hoggle" in the past, so let me just point out this isnt the same guy.

I started THIS (http://www.geocities.com/thegoofsplace/lighter.jpeg) 3 days ago.. its done all in Photoshop(yes, im tragically Painter-less) made up on the spot so there are alot of funky things goin' on with it im sure.

Also, it turns out my monitor is a bit whacked, the gamma specifically. I was asking someone about the tree shapes I had laid in and they werent visable at all it seems, so I had to jack up the brightness A LOT.. so.... blah!

Anyhoo, comments on what you think works.. what doesnt.. and whats just ambigous are all welcome.

I like the bottom half of the picture, but the top/tree part just seems unfinished. I'd love some more detail to go into the branches and anything else over her head.

I have only started the top of the picture really. I had thrown in some hints of branches and a tree then kinda focused on her and the wings.. then went a little off adding vegitation.. next thing ya know the bottom 2/3rd's is at 90% completion and the top 1/3rd is 40-50% at best. Which is why I am posting this at "works in progress" as opposed to "Its finally finished!" hehe..

I'd like to get some real time critique but when i try to use IRC to join chat.planetz.org port:700 I connect then it automatically disconnects me.

When I use that java client im the sole person in the room.. what gives?

P.S. I probably should have named the thread "New to forum, Critique this picture!" or some such.. I think perhaps people just read the "new to the forum" part and assume there is no art in here.
