whipped up a quick tutorial tonight, on modeling low poly eyes and texturing them

great tutorial, also nice texture.

I end of being in envy for max's primitives once more... I use Maya...

So, when doing the tutorial in Maya i was trying to find the shapes. I guess in Maya this primitive could be simulated by taking a cube, deleting the back face, and using the cut polygon tool to cut every face of the cube into 4 triangles. Now the thing is also 20 tris. Take the newly created center vertices lying around the sides of the eye (in the middle of the top, sides and bottom faces of the original cube) and scale them uniformly until the cube becomes more globe-like. Now take the center vertice of the front face and move it outward. This is where the pupil would be. Take the four verts around the pupil and scale them uniformly down, so they are smaller than the ones in the back of the eye. The result is a similar shape to the one in the tutorial.

But comment on this if my approach sucked.

i feel your pain eric. I took a saturday while I was still using maya, and just recreated every primitive i needed, and saved them out to dif files, so that if i needed them i could bring em in. heheheh.

That's a good tip.

Do you still have those (and most of all, the geosphere?) and could we trouble you for a download?

Otherwise i'll just do what you did and make mel scripts out of 'em.
