Yeah the book is good. It makes you think a bit. You should draw your interpretation of "the hound". If you've gotten that far into the book to actually know what it is.

Right after reading about the hound I drew sketch after sketch of how I imagined it, I'm still not happy with my concepts though, it's such a great image!

what i don't like about this is that is could be "just a firefighter." there's nothing about the drawing itself that conveys farenheit 451.
see what i mean?

yeah, I see what you mean. I have read the book all they way through like 6 times. Also i have been trying to draw the Hound, but i know what you mean, they all just look wrong. What do you think I could add to it to make it more Fahrenheit 451? I was thinking maybe piles of burning books and maybe a screaming person. Also if I put more enphasis on the salamander logo on his uniform?

I always imagined him to have more of a uniform kinda fireman suit...
Btw , have u seen ...(spelling mistake might happen soon) Equilibrium
(a movie, named Cubic in Sweden for some reason). Clearly inspired by this book.

Equilibrium is great, kind of a mix of the Matrix and 1984 (and Fahrenheit 451).

you all appear to be commenting about the book and not the art.

I can't help you with likeness to Farenheit 451, but as far as your drawing goes, he DOES look like a fireman. The angle of his left foot seems to be a little off, and it looks like he has no neck. Other than that, all I can suggest is that you clean the sketch up a little and try to add more detail. Keep it up!

I always got more of a faceless armored menace feeling from "firemen" in 451. I mean, these guys are wielding flamethrowers as they arrest people burn out buildings.
More of a Starcraft Firebat or Wolfenstein Venom Trooper vibe would probably work. Gas mask and heavy protective uniform, with a sort of armored-car/propane truck in the background.
As it stands, if it weren't for the flames coming off the spray from the hose, your image could easily be construed as a conventional firefighter.
