Mad Giraffe: I think that would qualify. But ouch that's ... disturbing ;)

I hope I'm the first with this concept ... probably everybody does that :D
Is it possible to recognize anything? Then I'll start coloring it.

First I thiught it is a funny idea.
Then the feeling grew that I have seen something like that somewhere!?
In a daily sketchbook maybe?

beetlebum -- That is too funny!

snowball -- The best thing you can learn about the figure is the center of gravity. Draw a straight line from the top-center of his head and go straight down. As you will see, your guy will fall backwards. Correct that one issue, and you will be amazed at how much more convincing your figure will be. The costume details are great, and I especially love the spear tip.

signature -- that poor turtle is looking right at me!

This is such a neat topic! The last two topics were really interesting also. I tried to make time for them but failed. :( I've got too many Christmas commission orders which I can't slack on finishing. I like this one especially because it could go so many ways... Could be armor for humans made from parts of animals or wood, it could be creatures with natural armoring (like a snail's shell!) And it could also be some kind of organic growing creature that has a symbiotic relationship with another creature or human to grow over/on them and provide armor.

Well, it's Friday... maybe I can sqeeze some DSG time in!

geeesus h. christ!this took me far too long for my intention!
i think i doodled with it around an hour.
http://www.photobucket.com/albums/1003/fisite/organicarmor.jpg
the idea behind it is that the armor drains power from the bearer, thus the bloodspots(sounds familiar,eh?).

This is sort of an intelligent energy being that can summon various lower forms of animal life to form a body. In this case, it's a massive nest of hardshell swamp beetles.

on many of the islands in the phillipines, they traditionally created ceremonial leather armour, studded with seashells and starfish to symbolize the symbiosis of man, land and sea. they wore them on their holidays and in their games, they weren't very well suited for combat, although they did from time to time serve in this capacity as well

http://www.skjoldbroder.dk/gfx/24bit/organicarmour.jpg

danielh: good idea.
davi: looks cool!
retrosolid: looks like someone you wouldn't wanna run into in a dark alley =) sweeter than a sweet thing!

all the best.

This is my very first post !!!
(and proud about that).
Surely I 'll come back.

I thought it would be nice if a (not organical) robot choses organical armor (coconut helmet, turtle shield, wooden fence, leather cape). It 's drawn with a pencil in app. 90 min.

danielh68: That's a great idea! And excellent painted too!

Kind of just drew it but imagine if this was a suit that you slip on, or a suit that 3 midgets slip on to go into battle.

I'm excited to see the other posts, so far they are very different and cool!

Maybe later tonight, if I dont get caught up in playing Savage.

Wow, I found this to be a really hard topic. I had no idea which way to go with it. Here's the best I could come up with. I envisioned a genetically engineered human - the skin grows in tough overlapping plates all over the body. All I did was the arm, though.

hey, guys! i am loving this topic. i wish i had more time to work on it, because i actually really like what i came up with.
the idea is that she generates a sort of exoskeleton to suit her armor needs. a changing bone form of protection that grows out of her. i think. wish everything was as developed as the head is...

Lichtpartikel - I can dig it. Very slinky.
retrosolid - man how do you get that kind of control with a tablet?
Wystro - sortof reminds me of metroid. Doesn't help that I've been playing it a lot recently, though.
Wednesday - Yes.
Oregano - Dude, I didn't even think about armor on nonhumanoid creatures. Bonus points.
Hunger Artist - Hooray for nonliteral representation!

this is my first entry into the DSG, and after just hanging out at the local aquarium yesterday you can see where the influences come from.

ink, watercolor pencils, and wash. Probably spent more time playing with the water than I should have. Also probably should have put the ink on last.

This is my second DSG. I decided to ink it, but it did lose a bit of detail in erasing the pencil. I want to grow confidence with pens though.

This picture almost kicked my ass, as after a week of battling the evil flu I have the concentration of a 5-year-old. Plus still learning PS is an added chore. Almost didn't post but it would have been a cop-out. DSG always keeps me motivated, even when my pictures turn out less than expected.

This guy is part of a tribe living along the coast where large, and I mean LARGE shells are readily available. In order to ward off those that covet and would take, they have fashioned this resource into beautiful, yet still highly functional, armor.
http://www.runningamuck.org/odds/dsg288.jpg
I think I need to lay off PS for a while, I'm pretty sure it's hampering my output and I really love the feel of paper. Can anyone recommend a decent set of markers and pencils?

Wow! Everything looks amazing or funny or both...

I put my original picture through filters and came across Ink Outlines -- it did a much better job at rendering my picture than I did. I need to learn what it did that I did not.
