Hi all,
New to this section of the forum :)
Actually i'm ashamed to say this, but i been drawing for over a year now, but i've never done any decent studies. So i thought it was really getting time to get into the wonderous world of stillives.
So what i'm trying here is to show some attempts. I'm NOT new to digital art, i AM new to real life drawings. Till now i kinda only done things from out of imagination, with no decent results.
I'd really love some comments on how to improve my painting style and how to get into the real thing of realistic painting. From out of this source my plan is to combine what ive learned from real life studies with fantasy and see what stuff comes out of it. And in this way hopfully enrich and improve my real digital concepts.
ps: Please don't mind my sucky english, i'm doing my best not to make to many spelling mistakes. But i'm sure you'll find enough. I'm from belgium if that clears things up :)
So i'll start with these quickies i've done today.
First an apple study, i've looked around lots of tutorial threads on digital painting in photoshop (the one from Bumskee) wich was extremly helpfull. This is what i made of it.

I might do some other attempts later on.
Secondly i done a banana, from a reference i found on google. Done in photoshop on pretty short time. i guess 15 mins or so.

Third i did a mandarin, also from photo reference. I tried out some coloring techniques. Kinda like the result. Bout 20 mins in photoshop.

The ground is messy, but i focused on the mandarin.
If any of you wants to see the steps ive done to give a better view on how i do things. I have some jpegs on the process. This can be helpfull to say what i do best and what i better not do. Cuz actually i just mess around with stuff like brushes, opacities and other options till i get the right result, but i'm sure there are quicker ways to get the wanted result.
Hopfully this is the right section oO
