Hi all,
In an effort to give myself a better grounding when drawing non-observational character illustrations, I'm trying to brush up on my anatomy. At the moment - I'm revising my understanding of the female form, and am here to ask for any technical criticism, my main flaw is that the figures I am drawing are looking too androgynous.
My thoughts are that it might be the shoulders being too large in relation to the head, especially with the middle figure.
Any ideas?

Thanks for any pointers you can give.

The length of the lower leg should be slightly longer, neck should be thicker and slightly longer, in general the only major problem i can see is its very rigid. The image to the far right is on the right lines. Check out some of the other threads, there is loads of help with figure drawings.

I agree with Bynnx that there's loads of info right here on this site- dig around a bit and you'll find threads discussing this kind of thing, linking to sites that discuss this, or mentioning books that will help.
To give you some direction, I'd recommend searching/digging for information on/studying the skeleton as it's really the foundation of all anatomy and proportion. There are some problems in your diagrams above that are more related to the general structure of the skeleton than of male/female problems- i.e. there's no clear ribcage, the shoulder girdle is completely misunderstood, the knee is quite large, and the upper leg is jutting straight down out of a truncated pelvis when the femur actually creates quite an angle (actually two angles!), etc.
Once you understand the structure of the skeleton in general and how it creates the basis of the human form, it's fairly easy to make the leap to understand how the differences in the female skeleton will create differences in the overall female form.
Hope this helps

With females, I keep the shoulders no wider than the hip. (Unless they're really skinny)
I won't talk about the face, because my problem is much the same. Manly. :)
