Never mind I think I figured it out. Seems to have been a compression issue with Painter. I changed the image from a rif to a psd uncompressed, re saved it in Photoshop uncompressed, brought it back into Painter the problem seems to have gone away and brush performance improved, weird.
I keep having Painter X.1 crash when I try to draw a stroke at the bottom of 8.5 by 11 300dpi image I've been working on. I'm using the brush acrylic variant captured bristle at around 136 brush size. Enhanced ghosting is turned off and pick up underlying color is turned on. I'm trying to paint on a layer above the canvas.
Ive tried flattening it, saving as a different file format. Shift restarting Painter to its defaults. I'm at a loss on this one. Hopefully someone has had this problem and knows a work around or fix because I'm about ready to :xpld:
Oh forgot to mention I'm working on a MacBook Pro with 4g of Ram and Leopard 10.5.6
