Hi, my name is Genome and I enjoy bigmac's, video games, art and long walks on the beach. ( people always say they enjoy them too, but after an hour or two they wanna stop. I like them reallllly long, bring a tent :))

Long time lurker ( since about 05ish) short time poster. I really only started this sketchbook because of this guy right here.

This guy is one to watch, not only is he very dedicated but he's being trained by MindCandyMan online.

So I figured really start my first post containing art I would start with other firsts,

So right below this is my first Self portrait. (Summer of 06)

-then my first character piece(same time as above)
597941

Then my first Reference study
597969

So at around the stage above, I would draw when I felt the urge to, read some books that were lying around, but mostly just look at art on here.

But I kept on drawing. Here is a jump ahead a year (07)

hitchcock and the bird lady here are all based on refs(was for an art class)

So this was a little intro, but i think that Conceptart.org wont let me post any more photos so i may have to double post :S

Ok so last post I showed right when I started drawing and a year after that. This post goes a little further into well me. We go into 2008

So right around this time I wanted to become a professional, so I drew everyday. Would make studies from books, keep illustrated journals everyday for how I felt. much like so

597984

I would also make some studies from masters :) with some changes if i didnt like how they turned out.

Then some of my own characters

Sadly after march of last year i decided that i should focus on other things and I did not draw until nowish.

Next time on Genomes Sketchbook- UP to date drawings!!, and inspirations!

Yeah, it's on now Genome! Great to see you braking the ice and posting your first stuff.
I like how you started with few images of your process from when you started. Definitely you've come heaps since you started.

I like the lines on the side profile portrait and how you make notes what you've learned. Nice to see you are using the block in process for the portraits. That'll definitely give you a head start drawing accurately and it'll be much easier to measure things to be right proportion but this you already knew.

So what's your drawing schedule and plans to learn right now? Values/anatomy/perspective/form?
Based on your excellent feedback you've shared in the forum I assume you have a good plan in place how to approach your own studies.

So to give you good feedback I'm going to wait to see more of your stuff:)
Oh and thanks for the props:)

Till next time!

Thanks, Genome. That post really means a lot to me. Everyone always gets inspired by someone or something, but they have to learn how to grow out of it. Art school is a plus, but that's just the first step. You take stuff, you leave, and you make it ten times better. There's always more to improve, art is infinite. I'm glad that you got something out of my on-going discoveries and hope that you make it ten times better!!!

Cool start you got there man. keep posting! The only way to get better is to draw more....

hi there genome. finnally started your own sketchbook I see?
that's great.
the pen and inks are great, and I like the connections you make to well-known art. (the scream).
So, where would you like this to go? do you have any plans or goals, or are you just strutting your stuff? ;)
