looks good, my only critique would be that she looks a tad manly on the face. Maybe its the nose?
Anyways nice start on you new sketchbook. Already checked out your old sketchbook, so subscribed just to see what you'd dish out!

Maybe she is just manish? Kidding.

I like the colors a lot. But her arm seems to bisect her chest and the rest of her torso and make her look a bit cut in half . . . dunno if that is a bit of illusion or there really is a problem there.

a bunch of sketches from subway .. I keep drawing people when travelling, it's funny to see how they react if they see me drawing, some are going "oh noes" and go away, some pretend they're sleeping, and some try to start a conversation :geekg:

Nice illustration on #5, my eyes go straight to her upper arm. I liked how you used the foreground element to counter balance the dominant diagonals. I would have removed the 2 grassy elements on the left side and just left the right strain of grass coming out of the rocks but its all subjective. I like ;).

hello guys, here's the portrait I finished today, wanted to make it look like traditional oil.
I applied canvas texture after the sketch was finished, tried to make my lights bold and thick and make em overlap the canvas, and slapped some grainy texture on top of those lights when I was done to simulate thick paint.

C&C welcome!

More faces!
The first one is a pencil commission I'm now working on, drawing it from a really old photo, which was taken sometime in 60s I think (can't tell for sure)
Just started drawing it, spent about an hour so far.
Funny how I'm afraid to push the planes there, while in my digital work I overdo that all the time.
The second and third ones are studies from photos ..

Some nice stuff here-A few small perspective issues on faces etc here and there-it's a bizach to get right but pay close attention to that, remember that features aren't often all parallel, but have a vanishing point somewhere off the page.

a few new pics I didn't show here yet!
The landscapes were done on my vacation, the river study is from observation (it's a view from my window in my gran's house) and the mountain one is from a couple of refs and imagination.

Still life is from the vacation too, I tried to make it look like a traditional painting or whatever xD and the woman portrait is done from imagination, just a personal piece.

a pirate fighting a palading was a recent commission.
Hope you enjoy!

Hello ladies and gentlemen! wazzup? :D
A bit of update today: my Comicon 2010 entry, and a little sketch for work.

My Comicon WIP thread: http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16685

Challenge brief and rules: http://www.comiconchallenge.com/2010/index.php

Ivy is older now, she's so old that some parts of her body aren't functioning properly. Though this is not a problem, for she replaced or supported them with the tissues of plants which she now has under her full control. Her mind is still sharp, as well as her sight, and her back is straight, thanks to the corset she's been wearing all these years.
Men are still at her feet and are ready to obey her - thanks to the plant feromones she's using.
And uh, it seems like her followers brought her a little present...
___________________________________________

I don't expect much since there are so many cool entries this year, but well it's about participating, not winning, right? xD
Still I'm very happy I entered, and huge thanks to Lilith (http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/member.php?u=1328) for encouraging me all the way!

UPD. By the way here's her entry as well: http://lilithtd.deviantart.com/art/Comicon-Challenge-2010-182553281
Go give her some love, she does 3d like a pro!

Here's a sneak peak on a project I've been working on throughout 2010. I did about 80 images in total, including monsters, NPC's and items, about 50 of which were chickens of various types.

Alas, it's probably one more project out of those which didn't make it to release, though we've been pretty close: design was almost ready, all the art was done, 90% of the code was complete when the programmer found a full-time job and left the ChickenFighters. He didn't share the code sources, so it's now impossible to carry on with another coder and finish the job 0_o

Anyway, it was fun and I learned a great deal while working on this, not mentioning all the crazy ideas and cool designs and stuff.
(Piratey Chicken! Coconut chicken! Cabbage chicken! Oh wait, I pubished this one :D
Thank you ChickenFighters, it was an awesome freelance job.

PS. I don't share the rest of the artwork, because there's still a chance they'll find a new coder and it'll be finished.

Eheh, those chicken are great, especially the vegetable/nature based ones. Though i do like the fire one, i assume it cooks itself, yum!

Also love those red outlines on the reclining nude on post #129.

Great stuff, keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback, guys! <3

This is a pack of materials I did for my student. I decided to share it with the rest of the world for the good karma's sake.
The tutorial covers basic approach to sketch a human skull and a few most general construction features, right placement of which help to draw the skull correctly from any angle.

Link to dA page where you can download the .zip file (read the description below the image for details) -> http://griffinfly.deviantart.com/art/human-skull-sketch-tutorial-202921315

Thanks a lot guys! I'll try and drop by everyone's new SBs when I have a min!
Long time no post, I've got new job (well, half a year now actually) and didn't have much time for personal stuff xD

Ssoooo.. this was painted/matte'd in spare time at work, it took me a while since I couldn't invest more than an hour at a time ..

Also a few latest studies and sketches, I took my buddy's sketch to paint so this is how this orc came out (check his gallery by the way, click! (http://skiorh.deviantart.com/gallery/)), the samovar knight was done during a lazy Saturday while we had tea and talked about knights %)

i am always very envious of artists who have the ability to move from beautiful finished linework, and turn it into a beautiful finished painting, without the lines being noticeable. turning solid lines into clean edges of intersecting values, thats what i need to work on. anyways, awesome work!! love it all!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, it's been quite a while...
Here are a few selected studies from what I did in last couple of weeks. All done from photos in under 5-15 mins each. I'm now focusing mostly on my line work and proportions.
There are two more pages at my blog (http://greenartblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/sketchdump-march.html)

It's a pleasure to look at your stuff.

I really like your studies, because they look so lively and studies are always interesting, at least for me. ^^ I also like your usage of colour, but I can't describe why. :-/ For me colour is always connected to emotions and that's why it is so difficult to describe it.
