wow...looks like a leonardo drawing...

funny...at first i looked at the whole image and i thought the hero char's eye is white and he's looking at the creature, but then after looking at the close up of his face i noticed that he's looking to the viewer...i have to say that i liked my first illusion more...

You should be proud, that is seriously impressive! Are you gonna ink and/or colourise it? If so post it up! Reminds me a lot of 'Slaine'. Great work!

I think you are a fine, fine draftsmen with an eye for just enough detail and good form. I just wish you were using those skills for something a little more original (Frazetta!!) and slightly less corny. I love the way you handle a pencil, but honestly that sword is killing it for me.
Cheers.

I tried to colour it but the details are just too many and too extremely well rendered. This is really outstanding.

I've been thruogh your gallery a couple of times and it's really inspiring.

Frazetta?? Kress, please explain this comment. I'm not seeing Frazetta in this at all.

I think the elaborate designs in his weaponry and costumes IS his style. Look at his other works and it is obvious he has something going for himself. When I look in a FFG book I can spot his work in seconds.

Amazing!

I don't see any Frazetta either... definitely a little Keown though especaially on some of the pieces in your gallery, but not an overdose of it... your work is very, very good and as far as I know, original.

This is sooo well crafted. Must have taken ages to finish! And were glad you did!

The main hero guy looks a bit generic, his face, with that rockstar hair and bare muscley breasty chest just looks like an amalgamation of too much bad 80s fantasy illustration. He doesnt have enough personality or character. His pants are also a little over the top.
Evil guys: same kinda thing applies, the expression on the one bottom left just says to me 'im trying to look really eevil' Without enough personality/ character the piece doesnt have enough weight or imersion. It just becomes generic hero guy verses really evil guys.
The legs and tail of the evil guys i really like.

The sword i quite like although its mabye a tad too ornamental and whimsical. The top half of it could look a bit sharper IMO.

I enjoy all the detail.

whaah, thanx for all the comments!
I'll try to respond here to a few of these...

yes, I'm slightly a detail freak...it's more a curse than a blessing right now.

gasmask- yeah, there is a little lack of contast...I'll probably ink it , maybe that will help.

otis-too long

Kress-yep, the charater's a bit lame...the original sketch came from a game description..."warrior vs. orc" I didn't use the sketch for the project and ended up just finishing this for myself...it was more about trying to show an intense action rather than original character design. I love Frazetta's work, though I didn't mean this to be a rip...it's one of the few traditional fantasy warrior's I've drawn...I usually tend to slide more toward goth-punk type characters and monsters because that is what I like. I also don't get to work on my most original ideas and/or hold them back for myself when working on RPGs where an AD tells me what to draw.
thanx for the input.

bRyaN-Keown's work is pretty kewl...it was probably one of my big influences when I started to draw...back, several years ago, I did a pinup for him for Pitt #20 (it sucks compared to my stuff now)

Lux-thanx for the crit...yep, sorry generic character, sometimes that happens...all it was meant to be was good guy verse evil guy...well, actually it had a little deeper meaning to me, with the tongue being chopped off, though I'll keep that to myself.

here's another new one...hopefully slighty more original design...this is a design for one of the main characters in my creator owned project. (you probably already saw this if you just visited my pen& paper gallery)

I'll try to post inks for that first illo when I get a chance.

thanx again for all the comments.

O man. Thats so sweet. I'm baffled just wondering how you get all those details. Not to mention not smuding them (i always do that, maybe i'll try spraying a fixitve on my hand).

Lux-Thanx for checking out my work

AnarchyAo2- I use microns to ink and never have a problem with smudging.

gallon- Thanx, kewl to hear I inspired someone

GhostofMacbeth- Yeah, if this piece ever goes to print, I was planing to add more light grey shading in the huge fishtank behind the guy to add more depth...thanx for pointing that out

liquidwerx-thanx

here's the inks to that first piece...let me know what you think

Hey SynthetINK

Great work!

Your inking style and attention to detail reminds me alot of Travis Charest's work. Is he an influence?

Also that 'Chaos Destiny' art has echoes of 'Tim Bradsheet' to it.

Nice stuff.
