Hey folks,
Trolling for some feedback here. I like this one, but I hate it too. I think I've been staring at it too long. It doens't help that I started in PS7 and shifted to Painter last night when it arrived at my doorstep, so this is somewhat of a mixmash.
I think the painter vs. photoshop elements are obvious at this point. I think. (Mr. Mikolov there is all PS7, along with the critter's head).
Anyway, any feedback is welcome. I toasty-crispy deep fried cajun style at the moment.
Don't mind the mess, my paint pallets are all over the work as well.

Wow, I want to see this finished. I don't have any crits for you (with the vast difference between the head and body I'm not sure where the image is going to end up rendering-wise), but I am definitely looking forward to seeing more.

Hey lavhoes,
yeah, I want to see it finished too. I did the sketch (rifiling through stuff on the computer... AHA!)

around spring, just kicking ideas around. It's obviously changed some since the initial idea.
The other thing that has me stopped at the moment is the fact that I have a lot of work on the head (still needs some finessing), but justifying it between PS7 and Painter seems to be a challenge. I don't want to mess up what I did.

Ug. I'm probably going to let it sit for a while until I hone my skills more with painter. The thought of losing the detail on the head pains me.

Ooooh....
I say, stick with Photoshop for this one, and learn Painter on another piece. You're getting great results from PS7, so why push yourself through a somewhat unfamiliar program?
I think this is gonna turn out great.

I agree, work with the stronger program for this piece, and gradually learn painter on the side or with other work you have ahead of you.

hey Iavhoes & Gr8t100,
Been thinking seriously about the idea of finishing the piece off in photoshop. I agree that it is the stronger program, but I don't think it's really right for where I want to go with this. I've figured out some of the detailing elements in Painter, so I'm more comfortable working with that on this piece now - tho I am going to let it sit for another week or so before I jump in again.
Thanks for the feedback and the suggestions. Greatly appreciated.
I'll post updates on this thread when they're ready.
Cheers, :chug:
