Ok it is not much... But I will post my other sketches in the same thread this time:)

For those who don't know, it is Martin Luther King (I hope you know ;) ). Based on reference picture.

A fine suggestion for rendering, but I think he accomplishes more by expressing the ethnicity of his subject through facial structure rather than shading.

Edit: I knew it was him as well. A very nice and simple sketch.

I must get some supplies because all I have is on HB pencil and it is starting to get short. Any tips on what kind of pencil to use to shade? Or just the flat side of this pencilw ill do?

Yup, that is easily recognizable as MLK, anyways: It's all good, except for his mouth.

You should add some defentition to the big black shaded area that is his mouth, like something defining the teeth. Or something. Whatever.

That is Lee Van Cleef. I used various reference pictures for this one. Somewhat happy with the result. I now see I screwed up the eyes, since they go straight yet the head it at an angle. I always notice problems -after-, argh.

Crits and comments much welcomed. And how come my shading looks like crap compared to all the sketches I see here?

you need better/softer pencils. just go to an art store and pick up a sketch pack, it'll give u what u need
