Some paintings/story book progress/toy design *it's up on Patch Together (http://www.patchtogether.com)/custom toy that I've been working on so far this year. I did a lot of these for galleries, it's been a fun learning process this year figuring out new painting techniques and rediscovering photoshop and finally starting to figure it out.

Those traditional paintings are really cute and amazing,
I especially love this one (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=590886&stc=1&d=1234416573).
Maybe you should change the first image into that one, so this thread attracts more viewers :) ^^ Your first image could give the idea of beginner digital art, especially when viewed as thumbnail.
Oh and the PolarLove image is really sweet as well..
How do you make your compositions? Do you have lots of sketches or do you just jump into the final image?

As a little crit I'd say that sometimes the textured backgrounds take away attention from the foreground.

Love
Marleen.

Yeah, sometimes I do get a bit into my backgrounds, I just love to paint the night sky and it gets a bit out of hand on occasion. But if you've ever seen the night sky in all it's glory, it's like that, http://www.nps.gov/nabr/naturescience/darkskypark.htm

I do a bunch of sketches, tons, my sketchbooks are full of them, I have to order extras because I just sketch tooooo much. I hope the compositions are working as well as I want them to.

I tried to make the lion my main image but realized I'd have to remove EVERY single other one and with the new category system it takes a LONG time to upload,(but it's worth it to protect our art.)

3aloha: And thanks, glad you like it :D

lol he's actually made of very nice hard wood, he's just very... um... texture-y? I probably should have sanded him down more to make him smoother. But thanks!

Using wood is eco friendly as long as you plant two trees to replace the one that you cut down. *that's my theory anyways* And thanks!

Spaz: Thank you!

I'm thinking about doing a children's book what do you think about that?

Very cute! Thanks for posting. I think your bears in the woods would make a nice children's book image.

These are great! I love the simplicity of design and the beautiful use of color, its very retro and sort of reminds me of Mary Blair.

Thanks! I am very inspired by Mary Blair, she's one of my all time fave artists. I'm also very into retro/old cartoons.
