December 9th, 2003, 09:30 PM
Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the largest art battle in the entire universe! I am proud to announce the rules and requirements for the seventh Thunderdome Competition.

Rule number one. There are no rules! This is a contest of great imagination. It is up to you to decide what you must do to defeat your nemesis! What will it take?? This is the free for all of free for all's.

You are on your own in this lonely world. A wanderer is what some might say upon sight of you. You are headed to the Thunderdome. Some of you follow the horns of battle pointed in your direction. Some of you are beating the low drums of war calling out for a great opponent. Your path leads here. You know that the only way to survive is to use all your powers and strengths for any hope of victory. You must survive! You will bring honor to your path win or lose. You will also know who it was you defeated or who defeated you in a one on one fight of everything you are capable of. No matter who wins or who does not, all of you will learn a wonderful amount of great things.

Challengers will use PM's or email to decide their path.

Do you want to do characters?

Do you want to do creatures?

Do you want to do robotics?

Do you want to do villians and heros?

Do you want to do environments?

Do you want to do vixens and virgins?

Do you want to do pirates?

It is you and your opponent who choose. Free will. Free thought.

Decide amongst yourselves. Submit your answers in this thread. Do not give away your strategy. Choose your rules, pick your subject matter and then battle to the finish!

CONTEST DEADLINE IS FEB 10th 2004. All final submissions must be submitted in the Thunderdome Seven FINAL IMAGES thread which will appear very soon.

All medias are welcome.

Judging will weigh in creativity, idea development, technique, presentation, and other factors.

IF YOU CANNOT DECIDE AMONGST YOURSELVES A TOPIC WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU BY ME, THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES! Simply send me a pm and I will decide for you!

DO NOT POST QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS REGARDING RULES or other topics IN THIS THREAD. This thread is to be used only to announce the topic and guidelines you and your opponent agree upon.

Judges and further prize details will be announced very soon.

Break the DEAL, Spin the wheel! Much luck to you all!!

OLSEN

Capt.Harlock Vs. OLSEN

Character and creature design.

The year is 1150 in a parallel universe where insects rule the earth. The world shares the exact same history, the same religions and so on as ours, the only difference is that all the people and all the animals are insects, although the fact that people are insects should show in their cultural symbols and tools.

The task is to design a fully armored crusading knight, riding his best warbug.

A warbug is the insect version of a warhorse, and the crusading knight must of course not be human, since everything is insect. The armour can either be a natural part of the character, handmade plate, a combination, or whatever we want. The character must however be mounted on the warbug, ready to kick ass in the name of the one true God.

Any and all medias allowed, greyscale or color. Background is optional. No taglines or descriptive written text is allowed in the final images or posts.

Create a World based off of this description:

"It is world unimaginably large and vastly uncharted full of creatures both wondrous and monstrous. On the only "civilized" and explored continent, a Circle of 8 "rulers" keep the population firmly under control. Lest they discover the secret that they have feared since time began.

-We each have 3 sketch pages of 8.5x11 to convey the world. Depict the elements you feel are the most important to represent your world.

-These pages don't have to be "physical" sketch pages; they can be scanned in and pieced together in Photoshop. The deal is you can't use more space than 8.5x11.

-Taking the elements from the sketch pages you must then create a color digital painting of the most important elements of the sketch pages. Is it the hero, is it the environments, or is it the creatures that best depict your world...maybe all of the above.

-The nature behind this concept is to fully develop an idea; it is broad enough to allow enough creativity without getting to out of control. Since we are deciding what goes into the concept we can put what we feel belongs there, as little or as much as we like.

-The sketch pages can contain as little or as much info as we like. It can include small 1-5 line written notes next to the elements on the page.

-The color concept/Illustration can be any size, any format (widescreen, vertical, poster etc.), and any medium.

-The sketches pages can only be pencil, colored pencil, marker, and Ink (Coro Sytle...WoRD).

-Any genre, any time setting
