Hey peoples

This is a portrait of Lincoln as a robot. It is made of paper. It is a foot tall. This was for a gallery that is celebrating his 200th birthday.

Very nice - How did you go about designing him? Was it a computer job or did you work out the shapes by hand(brain)?

Yeah he was originally done in Maya and I used another program to generate the paper layout. Photoshop was used for coloring the layout.

Ah - gotcha.. that is interesting. I do a fair bit of work with a laser cutter - and half the head-ache is working out angles so a 3d shape fits together out of 2d planes... this has got me thinking :D

Pepekura? nice :) i would have liked to have seen you use plain white cardstock to build the bust, and mask/paint it afterwards - the white in the scores and folds of the card are a little distracting against the grays and blacks, sort of takes away from the final result. congrats on the gallery spot though :D
