Hi, all. I work for the web site hi5. We’re one of the world's largest and fastest-growing social networks: Our company is ranked as the #1 social network in over 30 nations across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa.

I'm seeking a digital illustrator to help with object illustrations. None of it is technically concept art and none is fantasy, science fiction, military or anything that most of you would consider "cool." It's not the sort of stuff that I would paint in my spare time, either! :) But there are a lot of good artists here and maybe someone would like the work, so I'm posting it here anyhow.

We need a wide variety of object illustrations, done in a clean, mostly-realistic style: I'm looking for someone who can make something look mostly realistic, a little painterly, only occasionally cartoony. Much more natural lighting and colors, only minorly stylized. We’re looking for more painted-looking work, not vector illustrations. Candidates must be able to work and send files in Photoshop. Each image only needs to be 200x200 pixels. This is the style of work that we are creating:

To apply, you must be able to do work of this style and quality.

This is a short-term contract running from late February through the end of March, during which time we need quite a lot of illustrations done. We pay on a per-piece basis. However, if we’re happy with the work, this could also turn into ongoing steady (but small) contract work.

Please send me samples of your work (or links to them) to my work address, mdashow_(at)_hi5.com. I will not be checking back here much so you can skip the "e-mail sent" posts to this thread. I'll know if your e-mail was sent if I receive an e-mail from you.

Thanks!

-Mike Dashow

p.s. Thanks for the great response so far! One other note - if you do send me mail about this position, if you could, please note that you saw this posting here on conceptart.org. I'm posting on other forums too, and while so far it looks like the bulk of my responses have been from here, it would be nice to know for sure (so I can know to post future jobs here as well.)
(But no need to mail me again if you've already contacted me once.)

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who has contacted me. I am still in the process of trying to get back to everyone who sent art, but I have enough artists now. (Translation: That means I'm all set. you can stop sending me portfolios now.) Thank you, all!
