We are currenty building a mmorpg on the browser and we would be honored if you could work for us on this project by drawing 2d images.
Here are the project files to get a rough idea of what's needed:
1. http://www.degony.com/DegonyProject.pdf
2. http://www.degony.com/project-files.zip
After you complete one phase of the project, the amount of money settled for that project phase will be delivered to you. The budget is not fixed so, can you give me a rough estimate of what each project phase costs ?
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

could you please clarify the ammount of work required for phase 1. Like a list or rundown of the images that need to be created and their approximate size ( I'm not sure how much you've done already based on your demo)

Hi Smarty,
What is specified in the list from phase one of the project, that's everything that needs to be done.
Let me know if you have any questions.

The pdf file won't open for me, I'm not sure if that's the same for everyone.

Degony, I think Smarty was asking if you've plotted out exactly what you need at each phase. For example, Phase 1 you listed "Icons", but how many icons? How big would they be? No one can give you any kind of estimate without knowing exactly what kind of work needs to be done.
thescruffyronin, the pdf didn't work for me either.

Hi, the pdf is working for me. I do see what the others are saying though. The lists you provided are a good start, but you need to get into specifics like icon size and maybe clarify some things.
For example in phase one you write:
Human race: 1 small icon, 3 portraits and 3 battle icons for each gender
What is the small icon supposed to represent? The human race? What are the three portraits of? Are these different character classes? What are the 3 battle icons and why would you need different icons for each gender?
These kinds of questions need to be clarified before a professional artist can gie you a good quote. Otherwise you may get an overeager artist who just says "yeah I can do that" and will let you down in the future.
Please take this as constructive criticism. The game looks very interesting and I personally would be very interested in applying for the job but right now it's really hard to make an estimate.

Hi all,
Thank you for the replies and feedback.
I don't know why some of you can't see the pdf file. It should work. Weird.
Regarding image sizes and what needs to be done in more details.
Check the demo at demo.degony.com which is in fact only a rough visual representation of the game with very small interactivity. In the demo you will see the sizes of the icons, portraits, maps, game interface etc. You will deliver the photoshop/corel/etc project files and I will export the images, resize them or crop them a little if necessary.
So, for example, if you need to draw an icon for an item (let’s say a sword) you will draw it in your favorite program with the level of details needed considering that the image will be resized to 20x20px (more or less). I’m saying more or less, because the interface of the game will be different than the one from the demo, the game interface being the phase 3 of the project.
In the pdf file it says a couple of times to see the demo and also see the thread in the forum that explains the demo : http://forum.degony.com/suggestions-ideas/demo-explained/ If you read the explination you will understand better
What is the small icon supposed to represent? The human race? What are the three portraits of? Are these different character classes? What are the 3 battle icons and why would you need different icons for each gender?
In the document it says:
-Human race: 1 small icon, 3 portraits and 3 battle icons for each gender (male, female)
and there are some images below the text which indicates what images from the demo it refers to.
So, what's needed is 1 small icon, 3 portraits and 3 battle icons for each gender. One set for male and one for female and it is for the human race.

Maybe the UI should be developed before the icons then. Artists generally really want to know the exact size they need to work. If they guess and work too small, then the work looks bad when resized larger (images get fuzzy for one). If they guess too big then they've wasted time and possibly budget. Especially working small like icons each pixel counts. If you develope the UI first and know exactly what size you need everything else, things will go much smoother for the artist and yourself.
You say "3 portraits and 3 battle icons for each gender" but there is no direction on what you really want there. 3 portraits showing different people? A palette swap? Different "classes"? What's a "battle icon"? That could be interpreted a lot of different ways, and without having some explanations those things could be either a lot of work or very little. I suppose those details could be worked out with the person you end up working with, but it would be tough for anyone to give an accurrate estimate without knowing how much work will be involved. I know if I was to offer an estimate for a job like this I'd have to assume a worst case scenario and pad an estimate accordingly (which is likely not in YOUR best interest unless cost is no factor for you).

Take a look at the project files again cause I've made several updates to them:
1. http://www.degony.com/DegonyProject.pdf
2. http://www.degony.com/project-files.zip
re: J Wilson
A battle icon is a player or a creature icon that is placed on the map. Check the demo and the new updates on the project file and the zip package.
