Hey ho:^^:

I'm lior, 18 years young. Living in Israel.(so you'll have to excuse my english)
I had a passion for art ever since I remember my self, however, it is only
a year ago that I realized I wanna take it seriously.
Too bad it wasn't 3 years ago, before I decided on studying computer-programming
as a major in high-school. BUT I don't regret a thing. (:
For a few months now, I to draw almost everyday (after reorganizing my list
of priorities..)

I've joined the forum in a hope it will motivate me to take better care of
my drawing and to get some critiques..(so come on guys :)
I will try to update every 3 days or so. (while learning how to take a normal
photoshot of my works..)

Currently all i have to update is some pencil work from observation
2 are unfinished..this what happens when you work on a family kitchen.
(Soon there will be a normal room.)

Some of the lovely stocks I use:I'll add more graduatly

So lately i've been doing alot of exersices and tryouts with ink.
I'm working on the steadiness of my hand with a pen nib
so I don't have realy a thing to update. Just some here and there sketches
and some old abstract works (with some lousy crop).

February 10th, 2009, 12:40 PM
haha thanks man, yes maybe i will, and how have you made the abstract paintings?

haha thanks man, yes maybe i will, and how have you made the abstract paintings?

It's "thanks ma'am" :P hehe.
2 of the abstracts are made with oil pastel (I think this is how it's called )
and the brown one with pastels.

I did my first 30 sec drawing in PoseManiacs
I would realy like to get some critique on this
I barely looked at the paper, but i'm not sure I got it right the
"get the motion"

I will try to update more, it is abit difficult to scan/shot.

Chompo

I dunno why I am posting the apple, I had no colours with markers to use
but it was fun.
Markers are a great fun

Your cloth studies are really good. Your poses are also getting better with every update. Perhaps you could try to vary the amount of time used, try some 60 sec poses also.

Keep it up :)

I have things to update this day, but I can't right now.

I've been doing alot of posemaniacs(morning and evening)
and now the evening..I started diffrently
normaly I start with a movement line and scribble..
Now I started with head, breastbone and so on,
Am I realy searching for a movement this way?
I'm confused.

hehehe..I think :P

Chompo
February 22nd, 2009, 08:34 AM
Fumble thanks. I am doing posemaniacs everyday, but everyday
I kinda don't know what I am doing.

Just a quick update, later this day or tomorrow i'll update.

Chompo

A wrong image..
No posemaniac..
it was suppose to be this

Your cloth studies look wonderful. The constant practice with posemaniacs is excellent - that's the way to go. If you study anatomy through an artist's anatomy book (you mentioned Hogarth I think?), try to process the posemaniacs figure through what you know from your studies (not just "copy" from the screen) and it'll be an excellent learning & practicing process.

For some more models - try Character Designs (http://www.characterdesigns.com/index.php?sitepage=photosets).

Chate Noire Thanks! It's a great site, I also have a collection of stock

Some sketches from math class..I have many that I like..but I can't seem

Chompo
March 6th, 2009, 12:17 PM
Sketchbook update
there are quick hair studies there.+ posemaniacs

I think I need to get back into shading..woops

I keep working on a painting for a friend and for my teacher,
If you got any tips for watercolors, it would be great!

Chompo
March 8th, 2009, 01:49 PM
My camera is not working, but I am working on a watercolor painting
and I did a tryout.
Watercolors are fun! But I find it difficult to plan the colors and the layers..
I can't imagine the result

I found out that it is realy fun to just draw loose the people around me!
(But I can't scan it..so some other time)

Trying to get rid of the habit of going over my lines..So this works are
more of a..I dunno :P

oh yeah, some of Da and MMA photography

phoenicorn thanks.

My first watercolor background try.
The road is realy bad..too much details on the far side of it.

March 10th, 2009, 12:26 PM
nice progress! I really like your patient line. Before going deep into anatomy and stuff you might wanna understand the parts of the body using simplified objects like cube, sphere, etc. Some people criticize this method but I kinda think its the first step to get away from drawing line to drawing 3 dimensional objects. Thats what i think, tho.
have fun! :)

Chompo
March 15th, 2009, 05:01 AM
KingElvis thanks! I actualy started reading Vilpu's book.

I've been sick and busy with birtdays
so some sketches from sickness
some bridgman's hands and some only line[sorta blind]

I'll try update later this day

Janos
March 15th, 2009, 07:51 AM
These are a hell of a lot of studies. A great start to be a great artist. I really like your cloth rendering, maybe try to clean one up a bit and present a polished final.

Cheers

Chompo
March 17th, 2009, 12:11 PM
Janos Thanks! It's just cloth studies and me trying to test my patience
so I think it will just keep sitting (:

Been busy lately.
The scanner works like..(i'm too innocent)
so I scanned only my daily poses. Unfortunatly it's only from the computer
But I hope soon I'll have a model.
And then I can study from Villpue normaly (He realy made me feel more
comfortable, and i'm just in chapter 2)

From DA stocks. (Some day I put all links in the main msg)

Engehlhardt Thank you! I used markers. But they pretty suck, need to get better ones.

HerrleerziechenS Thanks

This is realy an update for the record.
I do draw everyday, but I have to study alot..
and it's a race against the scanner, cause he shut down frequently. hehe

It is from today ,morning..I do alot of these..but they are all around the house
so I just grabbed the first of the day.

Regardless of the fact that you're just starting to seriously get into art, it's already apparent that you have some serious talent. The first image you posted is brilliant and you seem to be getting the hang of things pretty damn quickly.

I've also got to thank you for turning me back on to posemaniacs. For some reason the '30 second' tool is really addicting.

Chompo
April 2nd, 2009, 03:18 AM
Primordial Seven Thank you! well..I have an excellent teacher for
drawing from observation. =P
And welcome..(though I'm not sure what I did)

A small update, because the scanner works like S***
I am actually working on an acrylic painting, I'll update on 2 weeks or so.
for a week I'll be in london. (:

* The scanner erased values

* the male-portrait came out too..un-skeletony >: He's a realy
Skully guy.

I'm back from London for a few days now.
London is Awasom!

I have too much to do that has nothing to do with drawing =/
3 major tests are coming
So this is a small update.

The portrait is just a try with the pencil

Your Drapery is good. You can work more on figures.. I would like to tell you that In 30 sec drawing... Try n play with stroke of light n shade... It will not only give dimension to your sketch but give yo freedom to capture more postures. A good work is coming up.. All the best...

Mihail
April 17th, 2009, 07:31 AM
Heya. You're doing the right things. Then doing those 30 sec posemaniacs I wouldn't go for light and shade, better leave that for longer studies. The main purpose of 30 sec gestures, as I see it, is to learn proportion an gesture. So your main task is to reproduce the pose and relative proportion of body/limbs. There's no need for this drawings to be too accurate anatomically - thats for longer studies. Vilppu manual has a really good stuff on gesture, seems like you have it, so you're on the right track. Keep it up

Bartovan
April 17th, 2009, 07:43 AM
Good studies Chompo! You might want to focus on volumes now: draw simple shapes: boxes and spheres and try to make them look convincing by lineweight. Keep going!

Sorknes
April 19th, 2009, 03:26 AM
Great studies, especially the gesture drawings. Keep cranking! You're moving forward! :)

Chompo
April 20th, 2009, 08:43 AM
Anup1 Thanks. I actually tried what you said about the 30 sec
and..It didn't feel right for me, like I am losing the motion.
I guess this way works for you. :)

Mihail Thnaks. Vilppu is great! I realy enjoy his book.

Bartovan Thanks. I think you are right. I want to study more about
light&shade and giving volumes.

Sorknes thanks.

Wow! I didn't expect so many comment. :)
I am soo busy with studies..last year of high-school is about to end.
So unfortunatly I don't sraw alot..only quick studies..
I want to go in more to watercolor pencils, so here is abit of tries.
Mainly I am posting this to get tips about this media.
+ an awafuly scanned quick figure.

Chompo

Zenobia Thanks! though I believe Audrey's eye came out too small. :P

Just having fun. :)

I'm happy..I found out that my recruitment is delayed in a month!
that like..gives me a month to draw after graduation, before I go serve.!
(yup, at first I only had..2 weeks of freedom )
I'm excited to go to the army! Though I won't have time to..draw. ):

Arne Meyer

Hi there!
Very nice drapery drawings you have here, especially the first one.
What I like is, that you really try to get better, the amount of studies is great.
I also like you stylized characters they look way more vivid than the other drawings.
If you would use a bigger pen like a marker, the scans would be better and we as visitors have a better sight on how your linework works. Thatīs the way I do it.
And also stay with 30sec poses, in my experience you get more intuitive lines this way.
I would like to see some more shaded drawings from you and some material studies, I think thats what you need to get your paintings a step forward.
When you go to the army make sure to take a sketchbook with you (if it is allowed) I guess you will get a lot of great motives there and it will be a great drawing experience.
Keep on drawing!

btw: thanks for the stocks!

Chompo
May 21st, 2009, 07:29 AM
AM-ArtistThank you for all you'r advices!
I don't understand what you said about the bigger
pen - won't it just make the line thicker?

I Feel bad for not updating..but I'm just giving the "last push" in high-school..
The end is near and I wanna keep up my high grades.

Actauly I have nothing to update..maybe a few here and there..
Yeat it sucks that I barely draw now..BUT atleast I realized that doing art
keeps me sane...If I don't draw I feel bad..soo..I'm choosing the right path(:

Thanks guys.

I am still alive and drawing!
My recruitment is in mid of July.. so am abit nervous :P
Been folowing The Natural Way To Draw (I feel more balanced this way)
and Doing some drawing assignmments from my art teacher.

I've got nothing in the computer..just some silly sketches I want to
have fun with in photoshop

- A Mermaid I want to color in photoshop..but it's not so fun when you don't
have tablet..and..I dunno..I want to touch it><

- A weird portrait sketch

- A line drawing for my teacher. not finished, obviously..
I dunno how to take a normal photo..so it's blurred.
Basicly It's random..to get many textures with line
**edit: No values because this is the assigment..only line! no matter shadows and perspective. :P

Feil Magnus
June 28th, 2009, 12:13 PM
Keep up with the studies, these are a very good training.
Concerning the lasts two enviros, there are some perspective issues, in the first one, the house on the foreground seems flat, as if it wasn't part of the drawing, on the secod one, th eposition f the bridge mistakes the eye what make it difficullt to understand the perspective. It's good to put all those details but do not forget to bring vallues, shadows lights to attract the viewer's eye on what is most important on your picture.
I hope what i wrote can help.

Chompo
July 1st, 2009, 06:23 AM
Well..this is not an update..
just letting you know that my recruitment is probably delayed in 5 months
so...........Now I'll update more, get more serious into drawing
and find a part time job.
Hope there won't be any changes like..getting in the army tomorrow..

So this is sorta..a message letting my self a push to drawing more :)

- Working with The Natural Way To Draw..maybe i'll update this stuff,
it seems weird. This book is excellent..
but I think I'm running too much forward..but no that I have time..I'll slow.

- Working with my teacher on more abstract, harmony, color..
and furter on with where I want to go.

- Make a project.

- Draw from life..like.....ALOT. (!

:drinkup:and have fun!

Cool, Great Studies

My suggestion would be that you find some characters and draw them, make a few personalities like a clown, knight, musician, sorceress, card dealer, pirates and a futuristic detective.

Your anatomy going really well; I want to meet some of the characters from your imagination. Get involved in CHOW (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=84) and DSG (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39) always new ideas there.

Chompo
July 10th, 2009, 02:47 AM
DazDaryl Thank you :)
Currently I don't feel ready for this challenges.
But I'll definitly am working on characters from imagination, soon. ;)

A quick update from The Natural Way To Draw
A modelled drawing in ink - 30 mins
A gesture drawing - some that didn't came out blurred in the photo

Finding a job before army is dificulttt >:

An update from some week number in Kimon Nicolaides book - The Natural Way To Draw.

I Accidently bought a brown paper instead of cream and I'm not sure if it's a manila paper...
kinda difficult to put watery color...specialy the yellow ochre..To see it
I need tons of color..and so the paper is filled up with color too soon.

The book is fun..Realy..I am not noticing it but I am drawing with confidence, it's strange....Just a realy(!!) good book.

- Chair is weird looking..drawing in a 90 degree angle is realy not comfortable.
