Jeff Jones anyone?

Hi everyone! I have searched for art by Jeff Jones on the internet plenty of times. Sure I find some stuff, a couple of ink drawings, maybe a painting or two, but most of the stuff is low resolution and the stuff I could find was limited to a handfull of images. Maybe I am not searching the correct way?

Also, searching for artbooks of his, I found a couple the are out of print and not available for purchace. There is a newer one but I don't know if it is good or not. It's a shame that such an artist like Jeff Jones is scorned.

Anyway, could anyone help? At least some insight on any of the artbooks would be good.

Jeff has not been well. He hasn't been scorned.

If the book you're referring to is Arnie Fenner's "The Art of Jeff Jones," yes, it's good. Actually, it's great.

Yes I know Jeff isn't well. I remember reading on his website before it went down that a lot of his things were being confiscated and that he/she will be living in a nursing home but that new art was on the way. Pity really because, in the words of Frank Frazetta, Jeff Jones is the greatest fantasy painter alive.

As for the artbook, yes, that was the one, thanks for the crit on it.

try comic collectors site, thats where a lot of her work has ended up , with comic collectors. more than fine art collectors.

According to someone who knows her on the Kaluta yahoo list, she's getting pieces back together, but the web presence is a lower priority right now.

For those of you in the NYC area, there's a special opening tonight (http://www.illustrationhouse.com/home.html)at Illustration House (it's actually feb 5, 2009, not 2008 as it says on the webpage) of various comic book and fantasy art originals, including a few of Jones' paintings. Wish I could be there.

Along with the sad it's nice to know some of the good things surrounding Jones' life right now, putting the pieces back together. I hope things go well for her. I can't imagine an artist like that not getting a lot of work right away!

I'll get the book since you guys hold it in such high regard, I've trusted the general CA judgement and I haven't been let down.

Here are a few old paperback covers he did for the Zebra/Kensington series of Howard stories released in the 70s. The only one I have is "The Sowers of the Thunder" which has interior drawings by Roy Krenkel. They're not the best Howard stories, but the covers are wonderful. You might find some on eBay or Amazon.

The Ragged Claws blog (http://www.raggedclaws.com/home/tag/jeffrey-jones/)has a very nice collection of some rare short-run comics that Jones made for various publishers. Look for some old magazine copies of National Lampoon from the early 70s ("Idyll",) or Heavy Metal from the early 80s ("I'm Age.")

Whatever her health problems may be, I sincerely wish her all the best. I miss seeing her work. It's very inspiring.
