Here are my votes to start things off:
1 - ruth2m - I absolutely love this image and would love to see it printed as a gift card!
2 - daveveale - I love the genius behind this one - and as always, pushing the brief to extremes and taking a risk - gotta be rewarded for bravery!
3 - rolox - sheer quality image; his feet could have perhaps been a little bigger, which is why I've put this as my third, but the concept and the execution is stunning - well done!
Best of luck to everyone! :)

1st: rolox - evolution (fantastic in every way - my only disappointment is that the thought bubble is a found image - you let me down!)
2nd: artina - poo foot (very well executed lovely expressions)
3rd: The Antarctican - bigfoot hotspot (lovely line work and characterization)
Runners up in this order:
4th: Angel Intheuk - tap dancer (good pose and face - colours could be stronger)
5th: pepps - miner (nice expression some parts could be tidied a bit more)
6th: daveneale - (expertly executed but a fluffy something is too wacked out for my definition of a sasqutch!)
7th: dirkvandulmen - fox feet (too much going on for me pose needs a more defined silhouette - nicely painted though)
8th: murdokX - toilet (a little ambiguous needs to bring in more of a story?)
9th: rosatron - blue with picnic (nice focus placement with the circled framing)
10th: ruth2m - snowboard (nice pose and painting, slightly awkward expression though)
11th: albertocubatas - large face (nice hair painting and quite a striking pose, it would have been better with a story)
12th: the_original_sean - moose fight (nice action effects but whose the long haired woopsie with his nipples out?)
13th: Tommoy - bomb (nice painting perhaps more contrast needed)
14th: Dreygus - freak with flies (nice character a bit awkward looking for me, try putting thickness variation in to your inking)
15th: Atastrophea - sloth (nice geometric look but too much sloth looking for a sasquatch)
16th: ashess - shoe shop (great idea, perhaps she needs a more monster look, much more work on the painting a details too)
17th: R_Marz - blue birds (nice shading pose looks a bit awkward to me)
18th: blackcherry - with fairy and daisies (good colours a slightly naive character design)
19th: si.guerr - with girl (strange idea quite freaky really)
It's so difficult to put some of these in an order, they're so different in their own way.
Cheers

Here's my votes:
1st: The Antartican - Fresh and clean and simply funny
2nd: Dirkvandulmen - love the concept, the colours are sweet and the expressions on the foxes faces...aw!
3rd: Ruth2M - Great colours, pose and expression..background is just gorgeous, heck it's just all round good.
General Comments and Runner ups:
Rolox - Perfect and brilliant - didn't click with me for some reason at first which is why I didn't vote for this one in the top three
Daveneale - Aw, so cute but eerie :) lovely light rendering A+
Artina - Really like this one a lot, his expression is great and I like the way my eye is drawn down to the poo and then back to the guilty bear :)
Macaruba - Love the pencil work, and facial expressions are spot on... the white line around him is a bit distracting but does make him come out of the background so tough call. p.s thanks very much for your feedback, yeah I have to agree, something to watch out for in future :)
The Original Sean - great concept - so funny and the drawing is tight. nice
Rostatron - Like the composition and storytelling, personally I think the bigfoot could have used another colour to shade him a bit, he seems too blue. still like it though :)
Tommoy - great expression and colours
albertocubatas - That is a mighty big foot, great colours and his expression is cool
Black Cherry - Nice stylization and he looks loveable.
Murdokx - The concept is funny and i like the green colours and lighting seems quite dank and moody.
R Marz - Like it more now you've added the extra birds he just looks so fed up and cute, nice fur rendering as well and lighting
Pepps - cute face and I love his dungarees, rendering is lovely
Dreygus - like the style and especially the little details
Atastrophea - very cute style a bit too dark but that could be my monitor
Ashess - Different take on it, like the foreshortening very much.
Si.Guerr - Sweet portrait, took me a while to figure out the bigfoot was tied up hehe like it...little girl not so innocent after all.

3. pepps. I love your illustrations, especially in that I like the finger that pressed the button .... awesome!

1)Dirkvandulmen I was just simply charmed by your rendition from the very beginning. I really like your design for Bigfoot, it feels every so slightly oriental in origins and those little foxes as brushes just makes me laugh. The colours are perfect and they all compliment so well. Plus I don't know why, but those flower petals are so very beautifully stylized. It's the very essence of the challenge. Really beautiful work. Thanks
2)Macaruba Great work. Very impressed how well controlled your lines are, and the patterning on Bigfoots fur is brilliant. The background isn't as strong but that's not the issue here really. The shading on Bigfoots feet are excellent by the way. Very skilled shading. I was always hypnotised by your work in progress too :D That was fun.
3)Rolox Just wonderful! I think your finish is quite exceptional. I've not seen anything so refined. That's an unbelievable talent you have. The face and the fur is a marvel and I can only imagine the patience you must have to work to such refinement. It's really very impressive.
I'll try and comment on the others too.
Well done to all.

Thanks for kind words:)
My Votes:
1. ruth2m: You really did an awsome job with the design/colours and mood with this one. I'd love to visit that place and meet that guy!
2.dirkvandulmen: Again love the colour choices and the pattern on the fur is cool too. Would have been nice to see a more polished background but the focus is the character so all good.
3.Rolox: Love your render here. Your really accomplished when it comes to colour choices and bringing your sketches to life, the little thing that bothers me is that you can see such defined anatomy under all that fur. Hope too keep seeing you in these challenges-really dig your style.
Sorry for not continuing to comment-wish I had more time in these days of mine

This was tough to pick from.
daveneale: Cute and dark, with great atmosphere and lighting! Love it! :)
rolox: Great concept. I love his expression and the overall style and colouring of the piece.
dirkvandulmen: Really like the bright colours and also the foxes, hehe! Such a cool idea! :)
I know we can only vote for 3 but I had trouble picking for 3rd place so I'd also like to mention:
ruth2m: I really like the background on your piece, not to mention the overall design. Great composition and colouring!

2. pepps - nice and solid painting, just a pleasant piece
3. daveneale - different take, cool atmosphere

Rolox- funny, well rendered, good job. Could easily be called Bigshoulders.
Pepps- love the face, just funny. Feet are a little small for Bigfoot.
Daveneale- nice mood, great colors and lighting. Can't see his feet, or is it the guy on top?
I've missed Southerns and Adele's entries, just forgot to post in time?.

February 11th, 2009, 05:27 PM
1st Rolox - Nice idea, well executed, definitely a Bigfoot!
2nd Tommoy - Like the idea, definitely a Bigfoot remark: I think the composition could have shown more 'jump action'.
3rd Pepps - definitely a Bigfoot. Like the concept. remark: I don't feel it's completely finished, like the fence, the weird big toe and the gate/entrance could use some more paint.
These are my votes for the Bigfoot challenge.
I also like the image of Davenaele nice fast paint look, cool lighting, nice, but it feels alienated between teh other entries, it doesn't read Bigfoot for me. Nice job but no vote, sorry.
Next is Cyclops.
Enoy.
C'est tout.

1º - Dirkvandulmen: The most funny of the bigfoots. Great concept, cool colors and nice render round off a great job. My only crit is that the background lacks a little of details for my taste.
2º - Ruth2m: The energetic bigfoot. Great colors in a dynamic and well executed composition. The work of light's striking. Maybe had pending polish a little more the bigfoot's body. Buen trabajo, Ruth!
3º - Daveneale: The mysterious bigfoot. This piece has a fantastic dark atmosphere. A professional job without any doubt. Would have voted to it between the two first positions, but I decided to put it in the third position because I think that it's a little faraway of my Sasquatch concept.
Thanks to all for his good-hearted words and for his so constructive crits. :)

rolox- looks like my uncle
rosatron- nice round composition, i like that he's a different colour. maybe a little TOO different tho. AND it reminds me of yogi bear, which is amazing. i still laugh my balls off at that show.
artina- best concept. great texture in the trees. his midsection seems a bit plain. maybe cuz the arms and chest are so defined. but as someone else already said, the way the eye goes from face to shit to bear=amazing
