Create? Something?

Dude. Ask yourself, "What do I want to do?"

Make as specific an answer as possible. If it involves the word "create," ask yourself, "how?" If it involves the word "something," ask yourself, "what?"

Develop a series of steps to accomplish it.

Hope that was helpful.

What are your interests? Only you can inspire yourself.

Try listening to some music. Watch a film. Go for a walk and take a camera with you. Read a book. These are things I find a big help when I'm stuck. I know the feeling of wanting to create, but often I find that sometimes, it's good to take a day out and do something else. Dont try to work when you're frustrated. It only gets worse. Go for a walk.

might help if you just start by putting your paints on the canvas, instead of staring at it.

FEAR!

Create a frightening series of events that are likely to occur unless you paint and use that as incentive. It works for my job pretty well.

The key points are:
a) be realistic
Aliens abducting your isn't going to scare you. Living on the street as a failure while your friends ridicule you is.

b) believability
The action (ie, painting) should have a believable (to you, anyway) relation to whatever you're trying to avoid. Ie, not go to work -> get fired -> live on the street

Hope it helps! :oneye:

This is probably the best piece of advice i've gotten when am scared to draw.
Don't think about it, do it.
Just put the pencil to paper and you'll start enjoying it

For fuck sake. Grab a bottle of beer, and a big nice glass of whisky (Grant's). Or bottle or whatever. Then look out through the window and hopefully you'll see a tree or two. Are they beautiful or what!! Then continue to look around you. Look at them wrinkles on your clothes, awesomeness. See that birdie flying, brilliant is what it is. And that women over there, nice round womenly shapes. And that old dude with the cool crow feet. Simply look around you and be inspired.

Agree 100%. Sometimes the best thing to do is take a break. Don't feel pressure to produce, because then you'll turn drawing into work, when it should be fun.

I also find visiting local galleries can be inspiring.

Get a brush and some paint. Use the former to apply the latter to the canvas. Now you have a painting! It's probably bad. Put more paint on it until it looks nice.

most of us here have vast libraries(or just a shit load of books!) and magazines, comics, dvds, figures, etc, basically collecting packrats! But, those collections can inspire because we like something about them.

I've got Mazinkisers (sp) a Godzilla figure, a few Lazengers from Revoltech siting on my desk & I'm going to the movies to see Taken starring Liam neeson (sp).

Things I like & enjoy.

Go look at somebody who has to work for a living, like a truck driver, or a coal miner, or a construction worker. Get a job working a tollbooth during morning commute and look at the faces of the people driving to work.

Why in the world would you bump a thread that is six months old, by someone who only posted once, who hasn't even logged in in three months, and is a duplicate of 10,000 other threads on the site? If you want appropriate threads to post inspiration links in, there are three in the post DIRECTLY ABOVE YOURS.
