it's good!
the only element that's a bit different is this "binary butterfly". the pattern on his wings distracts me fro mthe rest of the lovely painting.

Very good atmosphere in this piece...liked it. And the face of the girl looks really realistic. But the total artwork lacks of black-white contrast...u should make darker some parts for example the shadows of the arms, or underneath the arms...shadows of the butterflies or maybe the upper left corner. so the image will get deeper and the figure will pop out. My eye can't focus on an object clearly, that keeps the eye busy and watcher gets tired easly. Anyway, really a good image. Congrats.

FuT, Rusty Red Robot, nikiaChadTHX1138, 3bleadpencil, Isric, Living Rope, blobs, Loga4 - ya'll are too nice, now my heads all swollen with self-importance! Guess I can go iron my hands or something.
Balton-From one angle I see what you're saying and from the other I think the painting would lose some of its meaning if I were to lose the numbers and files. Maybe I'll let it sit a month and see how I feel about them.
Grooveholmes-indeed they are! I thought they would look kind of silly if I had them small and making them bigger adds a subtle hint of that yin yang design in addition to the icon inspiration that I used.
Atmospheria-That may be a difference in monitors. The people I've shown the print of it to, which came out almost identical to the one on my screeen (the print gods smiled on me that day!) didn't have any problems with the sleeves. Or maybe there is and I can't see it since I've stared at this monitor for much too long and now my eyes glow green in the night... Anyway around it, I'll probably give the painting a month to think about it before making any major changes.
Signature-sorry about that. If you'd just stick to this forum, you wouldn't have that problem! :)
Bboy Waldo-I demand satisfaction!

Sparth-The Almighty Sparth! Thanks
JoshuaTheJames- I approached this one a bit differently than I have in the past. I'm thinking of putting up a the jpgs of the various incarnations of it on my site. I've never had a response to an image before like I've had with this one. If there's enough interest in me putting up the various ugly versions of the image then I will.
One thing helped me out above all things, really really really great photo-reference! Thanks Gnat! And a big book of bugs. And the added boon of Don Seegmiller's caution, advice and counsel.

I think it is really good ... the face is the most impressive, the only crit is that after looking at it for a minute I thought that the shadow on her neck was perhaps too dark and too flat looking ...it seems to be the only dark area aside from the very bottom of the painting (I would either darken the rest of the picture in the shadows to give it more contrast ... or lighten the shadow on her neck and define it a little more)
