Hey everyone at CA!
I'm Sanjay, 15, born, bred and raised in the UK, first time poster, long time lurker.

Now that the introduction is out the window, here's my dillema, scenario, whatever you want to call it;

I want to become a concept artist. Now hold on, I know what your thinking "Teenager wants to have a shot at the big time, all talk, no action!" But in all honesty.. I am captured by the work many of you do on this site. And I aspire to be even a shadow of you all.

But where to start? I need to know where to start, where to go from there and to build up from there.. Now I could've googled this, but I didn't. Google won't answer my question.

I'm interested in character/weapon concept. If that info helps.

So I'm hoping some of you could give abit of help... Where to start? Because the starting points can be endless! I need to lay my foundation abit.

It's a broad question, but every one of you must of had to start from somewhere, right? I want to know how you took your first step into concept art.

So take the time to post, or private message, anything! Thank you for reading my long winded post.

Edit: Maybe this will narrow down things: Influences, style of art I look up to are the Gears of War art pieces. Theyre amazing!

a strong foundation in drawing. Thats the main thing. apart from that let all pop culture wash over you till it becomes engrained.

Oh, did i say a good foundation in drawing?

Check out Seedling's Concept art 101 thread (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=81332)
There are some simple drawing assignments that could get you going.
