So I am a freshmen illustration major at CCS (college for creative studies) and now that I am a semester in I feel I have some stuff worth posting so I decided to start a sketch book.
First is a project for a digital fundamentals class at school. We had to do a portrait in illustrator then make it a little abstract.
Also a couple of figures to start (shitty photos)

This was for my figure illustration class. The assignment was to do a self portrait depicting one of the seven deadly sins. I chose anger. Black and white charcoal on red canson paper

Here is a gouache painting from this semester, my first time using this medium. It is a stylized portrait of Win Butler from the band Arcade Fire.

Some of my first oil paintings ever, the assignment was to do a toy in high key and low key using a specific color group for each. My low key one is the blue color group and the high key is the yellow color group. The toy is a lego guy.

Hey dude, good stuff :)
Got some toons and some studies that are starting to seriously come along! I'm really not the person to say, but I wish I'd done a lot more reference and anatomy studies earlier on when starting artwork.
But just keep it up, you're lookin good dude :)

Just a couple more pages from the summer and early school year in one of those awesome watercolor moleskines so I decided I should use more watercolor and inks since the paper takes them well.

All of these are done from life in my painting class using acrylics. I never really used them all that much before this class so it has been a struggle getting used to them but I think im making progress. These are done over about a 7 week time frame. Each one took around 3-5 hours.
