DESCRIPTION

Kind of a different round for CHOW this week. Totally open, just a self-portrait of yourself as a supervillain. (I mashed together a couple different ideas from the suggestion thread. ;) )

Make sure that along with the design, you get across what your powers/super evil weaponry/death glare is!

final image(i think) i will let rest the piece until tomorrow to see it with fresh eyes. the power of the character is the ability to produce some sort of "acid gel" through magic...the idea is that he can turn the "acid gel" into weapons(in this case a whip) anyway...

I hope this kind of character is ok. Basicly my idea was that I would have nothing left of my original body then my cranium and spinal cord, and have to use a sophisticated bio-machanic robotic body to walk around and to wear a facial mask that resembles my face.

And then I thought this would take place in my base so I'll have like scientists and guards and a painting of me in the background hanging on the wall and my costume would be standing behind me.

There should be no such rule. My best ideas are usually my first ideas (but only when I get a *pow this is a great idea* idea). Usually my second and third ideas don't match the first.

One question (other than what powers or minions or tech I would have) that this CHOW has made me ask myself is:

If I had superpowers what would cause me to become a villain instead of a hero?

I'm generally a pretty nice person so its been a pretty fun exercise to think exactly what would make me crack and want to destroy the planet.

I decided that if my loved ones where to become collateral damage in a superhero fight scene (super heroes are always punching villains through whole city blocks and such or using powers that rival a small yield nuclear device. That has to cause some casualties.) that would probably do it for me. That's the reason for my villain's plain cloths he hates all thing superhero so tights and a cape are right out.

Anyway here is my rough WIP. I decided to go with the power to control gravitational forces because the array of powers that you could produce if you could control all the different aspects of gravity would just be awesome.

Oh no... I don't do complex! LOL!

Actually I just draw the lines in Photoshop with a my tablet pen... and it takes me FOREVER (I love you Undo button.... LOL!) I could draw by hand and take half the time but I'm trying to push myself to be quicker and better digitally.

Ever had one of those days where you just can't draw to save your life? Seriously that is me today. I think I need to get more sleep...lots more sleep.

Anyways here is what I have so far. I haven't ever cut off feet in a drawing before, so this is kind of different for me. The legs are going to be surrounded in this weird darkness. I haven't done any serious drawing for a while so any comments or criticism is welcome and wanted. I'm already finding things I probably should change, though I wont pick it up again 'til tomorrow.

Got a late start on this one, don't know if I'll be able to finish, but I'll give it a try. I figured if I were a super villain I'd be a really lame one with only one lame power--super strength...but I wouldn't be bulletproof or anything so I'd carry around a heavy metal suit to protect myself. And I'd have a lame villain goal, like seeking to return the world to an agrarian society by destroying America's industrial base. And I'd mostly run around factories breaking things, terrorizing the factory workers, etc.

I really like your original drawing. The colour palette I could take or leave at this point. I know they are just base colours but the skin tone looks a bit too orange. I don't know that it needs to be scrapped at this point. You could add in some killer shading and that would make her look evil.

The placement of your right hand is awkward. There is no indication of where your elbow is in the cloak. If you just add a bulge I think you will be good. It's really great so far. Battle to the death with Doctor Strange? I don't buy many comics anymore, but I'd buy this one if you are drawing it.

I love the drawings that people are doing that show there sense of humour. I see a lot of them in this topic. I like where your drawing is going. You have made one huge mistake, though. You have two options: Either find a way to make it less boring or start over! Me? I'd go with the former, rather than the latter. I'm lazy like that, though. Can't think of any suggestions on what you should change yet.

@ Monica I wish I had a digital camera beyond that of my web cam. Make things so much easier. Gonna have to try a webcam/mirror thing if I want the anatomy to look like my own. Yes, I cheated and drew from memory. :P Oh yeah, forgot to say you have a good start there.

well,at first i wanted him to be super-pale,but i couldn't properly figure that out...if i can find the time,i'm gonna add in some orc-ish figures(or zombies?) rushing towards the viewer...maybe in some jungle-style environment,or on top of a temple. (at first i had only planned warcraft style- figure in front of white bg,as it is now)

Go with sorcerer/necromancer. It goes better with your pose and build. Besides you can have sweet powers if you do the latter.

MATJOSH: Nicely rendered! The face has lots of character and a good expression. Kick ass-turtle! ...er kick-ass turtle!

CARNIFEX: I like the cooler color scheme, makes him look a little more sinister and deadly.

ADAM SCHUMPERT: Good colors and depth. Maybe some cool lightning arcing from those hands? Lightning is definitely evil.

JESSIBEAN: I was going to do an evil pirate myself, but my first sketch was just Jack Sparrow with blond hair. I like her expression and pose, can't wait to see colors.

JOHN BRIDGES: Very nice colors and composition. I love the imp familiar thing, and the fx. I personally would like to see more of the character.

BAXTER-E: Awesome, very Mignolla. I like the warmer color scheme better, goes better with the flaming skulls.
