To improve my figure drawing, I've thought about using 3D references. I know that live human models is best and I've taken art classes w/ models before. Useful, but it's not overly convenient.

I've tried using one of those wooden art mannequins, but the one I have is limited in posing ability.

I was looking online for more posable models and found these guys (http://www.dickblick.com/products/art-s-buck-anatomical-models). They look a bit more realistic and far more posable.

I also stumbled across Obitsu dolls. The bodies look very posable too and are manga/anime proportioned. Part of what I'm interested in drawing is anime/manga style stuff, so I thought those could be useful too.

Anyone use anything like the above or have any other solutions?

Big heads though.

Big heads though.

True, but I'm more interested in the bodies.

Considering most artists know the average adult figure is 7 1/2 heads tall abd many tend to draw them 8 or even 9 heads tall, ya gotta wonder why a company would make these figures 6 heads tall.

Years ago I got this big Spider-Man (around 15") super-poseable figure. It also has a number of proportion problems, but it's actually far more poseable and essentially 8-heads tall. You'd have to find it on ebay since I got this around the time of the first movie.
