Hey Muz, I'm afraid I'm busy. Also, you might want to give at least a week's notice... ;)
January 23rd, 2010, 03:38 AM
haha yeah man i know, we have been planning it for a bout a week but i only thought to send out the call to conceptart yesterday, and i put the facebook page up last wednesday. I would have delayed it but fuck it, might as well jsut do it.

Seeing as the amount of people who randomly attend sketchgroup is getting pretty big i want to start to put together a mailing list with everyone on it so i can let people actually know whats going on and all that. So if you dont get an email tonight send me a pm :).
Another change that is undertaking is that we are moving across the road i think to the gloria jeans, as it has aircon and is much larger so can house those random weeks where we get alot of people.
I'm also going to set up a blog tonight which will have mirrored posts to the mailing list.
I think now that im in a much more stable situation, you know working and i can probably get around to trying to do some more formal things. No promises though but im open to suggestions.
One such thing we could do is a monthly much larger drink and draw night at a bar.

I'll need to buy a simple point and shoot camera before i can do anything on it though.
March 8th, 2010, 09:25 PM
Good work Muz. If you'd like, I've got a point and shoot and a DSLR that you could borrow, it's up to you. Just let me know.
March 9th, 2010, 07:49 AM
Hmm that would be cool. I just mainly want to get some photos of what we do, and some of the drawings that get done :), just so we arent just a wall of text on the internets haha. I get paid on friday though so i might go and buy myself a point and shoot myself.

Hey Muz, I'm going to be MIA until the 15th of November due to uni assessment (aka, mind rape). This will be the last time this happens though, as I am graduating at the end of the year. I'll come to the sketchgroup the week immediately after I've finished uni, to reacquaint myself with actual drawing, among other things ;)

We're definitely still going! It's been many years (3 or 4, maybe more?) since we started, and people have come and gone.
Brisbane Sketch Group (as of 11 Dec, 2011):
Every Saturday! 10:00am.
Starbucks at Myer Centre, corner of Queen St and and Elizabeth St.
We've moved around to gloria jeans and coffee club, but we've decided to move back to Starbucks now.
If you can't find us, call Xavier on 04 3335 4748.
December 18th, 2011, 09:25 AM
We'll be taking a break for Christmas' Eve and New Year's Eve, and resume next year on 7th Jan, at Starbucks. Thanks everyone who came! See you next year.

Don't mean to bump an old thread.
How is the digital art scene in Brisbane?
March 1st, 2013, 01:14 AM
Frostblade - Too late, you've bumped it ;) The "scene" in Brisbane is not the most active. Like most other arty scenes in this city, it's much less of a scene and more of a nebulous lot, many of whom do not know each other. There are small groups that exist here and there, but many operate alone. There's more of a discernible scene spanning across the states, especially in the comic art side of things. Brisbane's got nothing on Melbourne or Sydney.
As for this sketchgroup, I haven't been in years... not sure if it's still going!
