Great start! Can't wait to see the finished piece! My only crit right now is that his head seems a little misshapen. It looks slightly squished in on the left side (his right).

Check out the way yours ears look. His seem taped to his head. Also checkout the distance from his right eye to his right ear...its much smaller then the distance from left eye to his left ear. Flipping the drawing in photoshop will help you notice stuff like that. Keep going with it, it'll turn out really nice!

It's cool to see how you went from a pencil sketch to the painting. It'll help me alot with my work-in-progress. :p

I thought his forehead might be a bit too tall but it's not so big that it takes away from the picture.

Looks great! though I think it would be greatly improved by a little more contrast in the face ( brighter highlights when they're needed, darker shadows in the same vein), and a little more attention to the perspective of things (the armor, the hairline).. if you make the edges of the scalp diminish and the plates of the armor get a little thinner as the angle of the camera gets sharper, it'd be reallly good..

I really like the effect you've gotten with the background, but A little more contrast would make it look really great too..

Keep going! I still need to learn more!

Wow, the likeness of him is staggering. Are you using reference for his face? It's spot on.

(And now that I look at the man, he kinda looks like The Rock. Not your drawing, mind you, but the man himself. Freaky...)

I think having a nice Japanese sunset would make for an awesome piece, but that's just me.

I used a picture ref of Ken Watanabe. I found a small poster from the movie and used teh pose, and I'm elaborating on it.
