What brushes do you use in Corel Painter? (I need your advice)

Can you guys tell me what brushes you use in Corel Painter for your digital paintings? I just cant figure out for the life of me what ones to use for digital painting. I use the 2B pencil tool to make sketches no problem but I dont know how to color over them. I know that Im beginning to sound like a broken record but I really need your advice

erm i think you should try out all the brushes in painter and see which brushes suit you.. everyone has different ways & techniques of painting and coloring so we cant really know whats best for you.. I think you could try tinting brush as it is abit similar to the photoshop hard brush

What brushes would you use if you were painting on real paper or canvas? It's the same choice. If you want to paint in oils then use oils; acrylics then use acrylics and so on. The program was designed to allow you pick a medium and start painting immediately. As was said above, try them all to see which ones you prefer.

There are techniques that allow you to paint underneath your sketch, etc. but you don't always need them and should not stop you from simply jumping in and painting. Many people use oils, acrylics and pastels/chalks as they are easy to blend.

Post some examples of what you want your artwork to look like, like technique media, brush effects and so forth, any favorite artists? It's easier that way.


For coloring under the lineart, select all, then choose the Layer Adjuster tool (first from the top right on the tool box 'black triangle with a cross'), then click on the canvas and Painter will lift the artwork, then set it to multiply and lock it, now you can paint freely underneath the pencil lineart.
