Your works are so detailed and have a quality that we all strive for in our works. I almost have a tear in my eye from this one. I love robots, and you are the king of your style. :)

each one of these robot pieces is like a nail in the coffin for my own robot book. i just want to see your book. my drive to make robot paintings has been superceded by my desire just to gaze at yours. the character and visual wit in these paintings is peerless. brian, i can only say that i am glad to be your friend.
an idea, a joint robot book. guaranteed i will have to deal with a life time of "jon, yours are neat but brian's rock!" but still it would be cool.

I can just see some scruffy native coming up and throwing a quarter into the parking meter so he can have time to talk with the Lost God he had been searching for....

Thanks all for the comments! I really appreciate everyone's positive remarks.
I.was.ink- Sorry man, I don't have a WIP for this piece. If I don't set out to do a WIP series from the start I don't save out steps. I just work the one image from start to finish.
Jon- A joint book!? I hadn't considered that... We'll have to talk. I'll give you a call in the coming days.
Evil- I feel that it's really the job of the viewer to come up with the "story", I simply provide the launching point. It's up to the viewers and their imagination to fill in the rest. When you, the viewer, engage in that aspect of an image's finalization you become an active participant rather than a passive viewer.
So, in answer to your question, the story is in your head.
Bomba- Hey man, quit reminding me I'm so old!!! Call me, you punk.

In order to avoid all those; “Great Work!”, “I love it!”, and “Brilliant!” posts, I’ll try to offer some real “non-objective” critiques;
1 – what’s up with that parking meter in the back? he seems completely indifferent to the he goings-on in the foreground; professional jealousy perhaps? I’ve seen better emoting from a Fire Hydrant at a Dog Show.
2 – maybe he’s taking his que from the meter in the back, but I detect an attitude coming from the Main Meter; were you shooting for “Lost”? because I get more of a “Perturbed” vibe from him. Maybe a nice ham sandwich would brighten his mood because he’s looking a bit too skinny if you know what I mean. The signs of vitamin deficiencies are clearly displayed in his eyes.
3 – I’m generally pretty cool with subtle sexual subtext in art, but not only do you have the main tree with a protruding giant penis in the foreground, but you seem to have overplayed your hand through the obvious additional reference to genitalia with an erect penis for Mr.29’s head and giant metallic testicle for a torso. The key word here is “subtle”.
All in all, it’s a rather nice piece Imp – I’ve just pointed out a few crits that can most likely be easily resolved with better direction and more motivated models. You may also want to think about putting some pants on all of them.
Btw – very impressive work! it’s great piece man, and I look forward to your next.

lilalex- That's got to be, hands down, the BEST critique I've ever gotten... Clean up that spelling a bit and it'll be the best I'll ever get.
" You may also want to think about putting some pants on all of them."
This part actually made me fall out of my seat I was laughing so hard.
Strong work!

I love the mood, subject matter, and the colors. Only thing I think I would do to it if I were you would maybe place more trees further in the background. Of course it has a fog effect, so maybe the fog is obscuring them. Great name for it btw. Excellent piece.

Great work again, Brian! I love how each new work you do brings an everyday object used in a completely unexpected context, and today it's parking meters. The mind boggles to think how they got there!

This is well done, but I think its kind of boring since hes just sanding next to a tree, you should slap another octopuss on his head and make him running from a giant tea kettle. That would be sweet
