PHOTOSHOP 6 Despite that it might take longer to load the file initially, there is NO lag whatsoever when working on an 11X17 inches 300dpi document with 108 layers. It's faster than the CS4 trial.
I have 8GB RAM and the CS4 64 Bits Trial caps at 1.6 GB. :( It's also near impossible to delete layers in CS4 because the effects make it lag so I often delete the wrong layer. Anybody knows why CS4 caps at 1.6? Did I buy bad RAM?

Well if you had bought bad RAM you can check by going to the control panel and then to Systems. You should see all 8 gb of ram.

Thanks, my system sees 8GB RAM. I don't know why CS4 64 bits jams at 1.5 when it says sky's the limit on Adobe's site.

I think you need to uninstall it and reinstall the program.
If that doesn't work email Adobe about it or heck their forums to see if anybody is suffering from the same thing.
Another thing you may try is to go to the Preferences tab, click on the Performance section and see if the RAM usage slider will let you go up.

None of that stuff did anything, and I couldn't find any info about a similar problem.
However, I installed the Windows 7 Beta, installed the CS4 trial and it sees all 8GB ram. It is freaking fast. I'm so excited. I have 170 layers 11X17 at 300 dpi and it's super fast.

Thats pretty weird. I'd contact Adobe about it. yeah 7 seems to be the sexiest windows ever haha.
