in the drawings that I assume are from life and not from photos or something, you tend to keep the shadows relatively isolated to the edges of the outline rather than distributing different values across the whole sketch. Don't be afraid to cover the image in pencil. Draw planes of shadow as you see them. Looking at moody, high contrast stuff like the max payne graphics could definitely give you a better feel for how shadows work initially, then move on to lower contrast images

Yeah, the shadows need to be worked on. Pretty good though,

Work more on contruction and drawing waht you see, not what you think you see. For example, in the last picture the eyes are perfect almonds. Eyes arn't like that in real life. They are balls that move around in a socket.

In general you seem to be heading the right way, espeicaly if most of these are from refrence. If they arn't thats part of the problem right there. :p
