Inverting value and not chroma?

Hi, I'm not an expert in color correction, so forgive me if this sounds like a dumb question, but I was wondering if there was a way to make the darks light and the lights dark, but keep the relative color.

I know I could probably achieve this by screwing around with channels and stuff, but something tells me there must be some kind of subfilter to do this in.

I know this couldn't be too advanced, because, heck, my relatively-primative video editor had this ability!

In Lab mode, invert only the L channel.
