Please also use this thread to sign up for the girls' side of the Gents' v Ladies' thunderdome, and, if you would like a child to be a component in the Gents' work, say so in this thread. Thank you.

Im in!
Is the deadline defined yet?
It would be great to get some details on that.
And about the child dilema personally it suits me either way, but ill say yes on that because a child is always a trouble to potrait.

Lionese - I think Ilaekae said 10 weeks (from now) in the guys' thread, not sure if that's official or what.

Voted! As I said before, I'm against the "include a child" rule. Besides it could be really out of place if a topic such as "Intimacy" wins :P
Edit: And I'm in of course! :)

To confirm, alesoun and I decided last night that 10 weeks was probably more than enough time for you crayon scribblers to get something decent together. Obviously, it's going to start pretty much after the poll is finished, but we'll make an official announcement to make it kosher anyway within 24 hours.

ok I'm in although I may be more of a hinderance than a help in the quest for girly supremacy ;)
I vote tea party because It would be awseome to see a manly take on that, I personaly would dislike what might be seen as a stereotypical "girly" inerpretation of that theme (ie pink frilly dolly stuff, twee etc - I know many women WOULDNT do it that way but that would maybe be the obvious feminine way of doing it)
So, I'd be really interested to see what would happen to it in the hands of men (does that make sense)
also vote NO on the must have a child, up to the artist is better I think

Emotionally Exposed is what I voted I think the topic looks like it will be Brotherhood for us so far... and just to confirm is this girls Vs boys as a whole?? This is my first TD and I'm in if it is all girls VS all boys... read the comments on the boy thread, good hints about Brotherhood... heeheehee!!

I'm unclear as to what happens after that and how to balance uneven numbers in teams? I'm mostly just interested in a big brawl of a TD and like to see so many people getting into it, but I guess a little clarification wouldn't hurt on the terms because it's been pretty scattered and vague.

The info keeps getting posted in scattered threads, Dave (we have five now), but basically...
It's a fuckin' free-for-all--male vs female with no matchup teams. The top four or five vote getters in each of the final polls are going to go against each other with the same art with either a set of judges or a second open poll to determine which side wins...that way, it doesn't matter how many are on each side. You're fighting against your own people to get into the final four or five, as well as against the other side.
This is to guarantee that we don't have slackers figuring one side will win by sheer numbers alone.

PatS'...
The Challenge is going to start next week as soon as the polls close. 10 weeks brings it out to somewhere between April 1-4, which is only a week after the March 28th opening of the workshop. That gives you a solid eight weeks+ to get something together in time. Just post it before you leave. At this point, 10 weeks is our maximum time frame, and we may decide to cut it back a bit anyway, so no problem either way. It DEFINITELY won't be extended though.
I figure the slowest/busiest artist here can get this done between 5 and 8 weeks, anyway, and most are gonna wait to the last minute and finish it in 3 weeks like they usually do anyway...little bastards... :P

Lionese, the poll will run a total of six days, so we have roughly five to go. Alesoun and I will post a SINGLE announcement thread just as the polls close that has all the final topic specs, deadlines, posting procedures and rules in it, just to keep people from getting too much of a head start on others. It will also concentrate the trash talk and questions in one place, where it'll be easier to keep track of. A little later, there will be a thread created for each side to post their finals in. The threads open now will just drift off to CA purgatory... :P

hmm, that sounds like nightwish... I wasn't paying attention to the beginning of the vid so if it's not ooops...they sounds AWESOME though.
They're both slight power-ish so maybe that's why. I'm not a fan of Power-Folk metal like that though. There are some amazing folk/pagan bands though (Moonsorrow, Primordial, Eluviete, etc.), just many of them seem so cheesy and remind me of when I was a little kid playing LotR with my friends. I find most power metal in general to be cheesy. :P
I hope loss of innocence wins because I have some awesome ideas for the topic. I think that one will go over well with the men actually.

Must admit I'm suprised at the popularity of Loss of Innocence as the boyfiend pointed out to me last night avec los phone he doesn't see how that would be a particularly unusual, difficult or challenging topic for males as they are usually quite attracted to displaying the subject? or is the challenge for them to think outside the conventional male box for loss of innocence?

I think loss of innocence is a hard topic for anyone to get truly right. It really just depends on how serious the boys will take it. As in, will they actually try to get to the heart of the theme, ie. what does innocence mean? or will they just do some scene where a little boy sees Barney humping a man.
So it really depends.

Ladies and Gentlemen...
I have good news and I have bad news...
The good news is that we have over a hundred people ready to kill each other and from the looks of the polls, two pretty much confirmed nice topics to go with.
The bad news is...
Due to just finding out about the high probability of A MAJOR TD starting in less than three weeks--and I mean MAJOR--we are going to have to drastically cut our deadline back to only FOUR (4) weeks from our original 8-10. Every other possibility we looked at meant either stalling off our TD for at least a couple of months, or canceling it completely. Neither felt right to me, so we're going ahead with our plans, but...
NOW WE HAVE A REAL WAR! The two sides will have ONLY roughly 4 weeks to get their entries in, and there IS NO HOPE of an extension.
We understand that this is a major change late in the game, but we've been working back and forth to resolve this now for three days, and this is the best we could come up with. I will have no problem with anyone who has to drop out because of RL problems, but those of you who do go for it, this will be a true test of pressure and competence that you can truly be proud of if you finish.
[This is being posted in every thread that deals with the TD to make sure everyone sees it. As I said above, there shouldn't be any embarrassment over having to drop out because of the drastic changes we had to make to the deadline. Our apologies for having to do it.]

I am still in... That's one of the pluses to ADD is that people with it tend to do better under pressure and tight deadlines. I normally push all my CHOWS until the last 3-4 days anyway. So this should be fun!!!

Maybe the chicks have more work than the guys. In which case, we win in the long run.

Welcome to the Battle of the Sexes
WAR IS DECLARED!
The first epic battle of 2009 is officially on. This is no-holds-barred open warfare! The Ladies will be doing a topic chosen by the Gentlemen, and vice versa. In two weeks, we will post two new threads, One for the Ladies to post their final entry, and one for the Gentlemen. Trash talk is mandatory. Since this is officially a TD, NO WIPs should be posted, but you can share with your friends and supporters for advice and crits elsewhere or by email if you want.
OFFICIAL DEADLINE: Sunday, February 22
at 11:59 p.m. anywhere in the world
(which is roughly 12 hours after GMT time)
There will be NO extensions under any circumstances!
Topic for the Ladies to do: BROTHERHOOD
Topic for the Gentlemen to do: LOSS OF INNOCENCE
Further rules are in the Battle of the Sexes TD Official Thread (see below)
The battle has begun. Let the best woman/man win!
The Official Thread for this TD from now on is...
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=148224
This thread will be locked immediately.
