let me know what you think of My Website (http://diegojose.com). If there is anything missing let me know. And what would I need to add for a good portfolio in concept art and/or 3d art.

Thank you

ps: I will eventually separate the drawings from the 3d stuff.

not bad...

very good actually. The flash animation or whatever it is is professional looking, get a better quote though. its not as professional looking to qoute yourself. It be better to do something like:

"Check this guy out. He's really good. Can't stay though, gotta leave, I'm busy being dead."

man i had a good time diggin around your site. you've got alot of drive and ideas, and a solid presentation platform for almost everything it seems! cool. keep it up and keep those ideas interesting.

..the site is sloooooooooow - looking at a pic the second time should take no time at all (since browsers use cache) but your fancy pancy animations clogs up my brain.. gaah!

just loading up the site takes a good 5 seconds although i've already loaded it before.. when i click through the portfolia at the speed i want all i see is a flashing green square.. you're pushing you're luck..

'n yeah, self-quoting is really cheesy.. it's not funny..

hmm, i'm not so sure about that green color, i think you should aim for something with a little less saturation.. that green color really dominates the site.. all your art kinda gets in the background.. no, not all, but all art with weak saturation.. also check this out:

site looks good. it wasn't slow for me but I have a good broadband connection. I like how everything is simple and easy to figure out. No mystery meat.

good work.

the site is good, in general...but the home page needs some polishing. i'd definitely get a real quote, and i'd stay away from pencil sketches...it just doesn't make an all too professional impression. i'm sure you have something that's properly inked, or just rework the female worrior you already have there.

the loading/animation speed was good (broadband as well), and even though i like the green color, i have to agree with soul that some of the artwork gets lost in it.

Something else about the download time.
There are images that don't have to be 300kb big.

I'd compress them more.

I think there is an option in Flash too for quality/speed compromises.

I like the layout. And the colors don't bother me.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to the others.

OK, I'm gonna' be honest with you here.
The flash makes me seasick. There is no creative or utilitarian reason to have that much movement/change happen just because I want to look at another drawing. It's distracting, and makes me feel like I'm gonna' fall over. I think it takes away from why I'm there: to view your art.

I think you should consider whether you want that much flash in a website that's supposed to be about 2d/3d art. It seems like in an effort to make your site seem "hip", you drenched in a snazzy suit. No matter how well your website is built, it's not going to make your artwork any better.

Another thing. There is a grammatical error in the quote of yourself (which isn't that great in the first place)! This is a professional NO-NO. If I were an art director and was looking at your site for the prospect of hiring you, I would see that mistake and turn right around. Maybe it's there because English isn't your first language, if so I don't want to be unfair here, either way I'm sure it was an honest mistake and I don't know why it's there. But from a *professional* standpoint (and that is the point of your site, no?), it's VERY SMART to get those things double-checked by someone else before you put your site up.

OK, I'm sorry if that seemed harsh, but I'm just sharing what I think would make your site look more professional, instead of "I'm an art student that knows this one really cool flash trick". Don't depend on gimmicks.

I guess the reason I responded like crazy is because you obviously show a lot of drive, technical know-how, and willingness to learn. I just feel like no one ever mentioned to you anything that I mentioned above. With your ambition I'm sure you can fill that site up with great artwork, I just don't want to get distracted on my way to see it!

Good luck... Sorry for the REALLY long post.

Well, I'd say it's a great start. Too much green, you need another color to come in and compliment the green. The animations do take a couple seconds per click, which might be a bit much. Overall, I think you're on the right track.

Now I just need to figure out how to do something like that. I haven't the foggiest idea how to make a nice flash site as such.

I took the quote down.........the green stays...........animation stays............thankyou for your comments.
