Hi everyone,

It's been an age since I had anything to show here. This is a recently finished sculpt which I started well over a year ago, based on the cover of The Dark Knight Returns.

Here's the inspiration:

I then did a quick PS to flesh him out:

And here's the finished sculpt, some 1 and a half years later :P

I also stuck all the pics in a video, and there's a turnaround on it as well:

Thanks for looking :)

I've been meaning to comment on this one on some of the
other forums Gene, but I kept getting sidetracked. Anyway,
like everyone else, I freakin' love this sculpt! You really
nailed absolutely everything on this one. Beautiful job man!
I know a lot of people are dying to get a copy of one (if you
decide to kit it, that is). :teeth:

Thanks guys.

Troy, I understand how you mean. Logging on to these forums and seeing so many awesome new sculpts EVERY TIME.. I find it really humbling. What happened to your Batman on a gargoyle sculpt? I really love that one.

I'm certainly not planning on keeping this guy all to myself.. but it might take a while before I know what it's fate is. Don't worry, I'll be sure to let you guys know if it does go resin :)

You've got to be kidding about crying yourself to sleep right?! Your Minotaur is friggin AWESOME. How'd you do the armor?

You're from the West Midlands! Which part? I used to study in Birmingham.
Thanks for the welcome, though I've actually been around on and off for a couple of years :P Think I've only posted one prior sculpt though.

Hey Zombie, just want to say you did a fine job on this, are you going to paint this or leave it as it is?

Thanks mate. I'm holding off painting it since it'll most likely get cast.

Did a quickie PS job though:

Hey Bud,

The Minotaur is my least favourite piece actually hehe, but thank you anyway dude :D And yeah I will make more armour in the future definately, it was real fund to do. What I did was after baking the figure, I lay some kitchen foil over the face and head, then a wire mesh. I then reinforced it by filling the mesh in with sculpey, over baked it until it was rock solid, then pasted wood glue all over it, waited for it to dry, then I would start sculpting the armour. Then.. after baking it, I sanded it, then painted it! If you do go through my sculpting thread it's the exact same process as making my dragon wings, except I roughly moulded it around different parts of the Minotaur's body instead! I hope that made sense? And I hope that helped?

And D'oh!! I never realised that you've been here for a few years already lol erm.. welcome anyway lol And yeah I live in an area called Kings Norton, in Birmingham.. I've moved around quite a bit though.. used to live in Acocks Green for the most part of my life, then Moseley, then Tyseley. And so you know Birmingham well then eh? What did you study here?

And I can't stop staring at your sculpt.. it really is so well done. I had that Graphic Novel stolen when I was stolen along with Year One and others!! IF you do make another one I would love to see you make Batman on a horse rearing on it's back legs.. it's one of my favourite pics in the Drak Knight Returns novels.. Hehe.. just a thought :)

Best wishes!!!

Hmm... don't think I'm quite ready to tackle rearing horses yet lol. I was in BIAD at Gosta Green studying Visual Communication, majoring in video and animation. Lived in Selly Oak for a couple of years.

Thanks for the quick armour description. I thought it was real metal, looking at your pics on your website!
